User :   Hello,
I tripped on the ramp of a bus yesterday and ended up slamming the side of my head into a pole (the left side of my head) in the process. It was a fairly hard and sudden hit without any cushioning, and I acquired a lump on my temple (upper part of temple near forehead). The lump was about the size of an egg, and seems to have traveled slightly over night, and is still there, but smaller. Immediately after the hit, I stood up, put my glasses back on and walked to the next bus I was taking, rode for about 20 minutes, and walked home after that (about 15 minutes). When I got home I put ice on it. There was no loss of balance,I was talking fine, no confusion or change in vision. I was fine for the rest of the day, and slept over night. Today, my arms seem sore (the upper backside of both of them), it is a type of soreness that seems to ripple through my arms, a tingling, cramp-like sensation. There is still a small lump on my temple, and it is still sore. Aside from the soreness in my body (with occasional aches and an ever-so-slight and faint nausea that comes and goes), there are no other symptoms.
My main concern, and my question is how much damage might have ocurred to my brain as a result of this hit, and if any damage, how permanent? Should I worry? I'm really looking for a medical opinion here; I have no coverage, and realize that once the opinion is given, there's no responsibility on the part of the provider. If my symptoms do get severe enough, regardless of any opinion given, I will make a trip to the ER.
Thank you
