User :   Hello Doctor, i am 29 yrs old 33 weeks pregnant. my sugar levels are fasting 136 and 176 afte one and half hour. not taking sugar for last 20 days. Please advice.

Doctor :   As the EDD is in another 7 weeks at the max. you might be very anxious about the baby's health and yours, So first Let me advise you a few steps.

Doctor :   Step 1. Do not hit the panic button.
Doctor :   Could you please let me know your height and weight , and weight in the first month.

User :   height is 5.5 inches

User :   it was 66 in the begining

Doctor :   Nothing to worry.

Doctor :   2. How was your GTT in the 5th month ?
User :   gtt is the glucose test

User :   fasting - 102
User :   1 hr -238
User :   2 hour-160
User :   and 3 hrs-100

Doctor :   I feel the tests showed slight elevated levels.
User :   not taking anything contains sugar

Doctor :   Now let me put down some important points.

Doctor :   2. Please take plenty of water and sugar free - fresh fruit juices , low in Carb. diet. and dont strain them.

User :   i am very confused about diet

Doctor :   3. If you are physically able enough, take a walk at least for 45 mins. in the morning and 30 mins. in the evning.

Doctor :   4. Gestational Yoga or Sukshm Yoga to move every part or joint by just standing or sitting in a chair. These are subtle exercises to increase blood circulation to extremities and whole body.
Doctor :   5. On diet, Please take the following dietary habits : less cereals, high protein foods like pulses, legumes, Only Gourds and green leafy vegetables.

Doctor :   Now,For Breakfast : Doctor :   1. Have Sprouts - one whole bowl.
Doctor :   2. Grated carrot, Leafy vegtables, Cucumber, Tomato.
Doctor :   3. One orange/Mosambi.

Doctor :   After Two hours Have a Pomegranate.
Doctor :   After one hour have Karela juice with some rock salt and some tulsi leaves in it.
User :   i am really sorry i did not tell you that my blood pressure is also fluctuating
User :   3 days back it was 150-90
User :   7 days back it was 130-80
Doctor :   That was the reason that I advised you rock salt as in most gestational diabetes cases we have Blood Pressure variatons.

Doctor :   And please abstain from Common Table salt totally.

Doctor :   For lunch : have 50 gms of Unpolished / Brown Rice or One Phulka with two-three cups of palak/any other dal , Any gourd curry - like Ribbed , Bitter , etc.

Doctor :   Or Snake, Little Gourd.
Doctor :   Have a nice platter of salads again at lunch.

Doctor :   After 3 hrs. Have nice soup of Coriander or Tomato Rasam or Tomato Soup or Vegetable stew without salt, use rock salt.

Doctor :   In the evening have butter milk or skimmed milk as per your taste and have a fruit - non carb.
Doctor :   At dinner have fruits - mostly oranges, mosambi, Pine apple. And mostly one phulka with lots of sabzi, do add muli and onion to the salads. Have lots of Beet roots.

Doctor :   You can have small fish as they are rich in proteins and have less carb .

Doctor :   Do add different dals to your diet like chnna, kabuli chnna, soya , beans, green peas, etc. at every meal one different pulse.
Doctor :   Finally get your sugar levels checked every week till 36th week and every 3 days after that to ensure they are in the right parameters and if not you have to be on medication.
Doctor :   Please discuss every time your sugar levels get checked either with your Gynecologist or With Any qualified Medical Practiotioner.

Doctor :   The most important advise would be to calm down, Take some Breathing exercises And Pranayama .
Doctor :   Please do spend time with your Baby, Studies in the west have proved that Babies listen to what their mothers speak from 20th week.
