User :   I feel a pressure in left upper arm and left side of chest when passing XXXXXXXX stool with straining. What coulld this be?
User :   i mean XXXXXXXXd stool
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi
Doctor :   this is from when ?
User :   this has been there for a long time, but i only feel the pressure when straining. i would say 2 years
User :   but if stool is soft then its fine
Doctor :
as you strain to pass stools the pressure in the abdomen as well as chest increases this pressure is reflected in your left arm also
User :   my cholestrol in Aug, 2009 was 192, in Nov 2009 it was 178
User :   i don't feel anything in my abdomen as it feels just normal, but only pressure in upper left arm and left chest
User :   i had the test (ECG or EKG) the one with wires strapped to my chest in Nov, 2009 and my physician said it is normal
Doctor :   ok
User :   with my left arm i have had a problem since last 5 years. when i get very stressed, i would sometimes feel pressure in my left arm.
Doctor :
User :   also i can exercise on treadmill running 1 mile without feeling any problems
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
have you got the echo cardiograph done ?
User :   is that the one with wires connected to your chest area?
User :   with graphs on paper
Doctor :
no it is EKG ,
Doctor :
electrocardiography is done by cardiologist
User :   ok then i got EKG done but not ECG
Doctor :   EKG and ECG are same one is american english and the other is UK english
Doctor :   i suggest you to consult a cardiologist and get an echo done
User :   what i am feeling points to heart problem or it could be something else. i used to weigh 187 lbs for a long time and lost 40 lbs so I am now 147 lbs. my blood pressure is normal and so is pulse rate
Doctor :   the pressure in the chest reflected to the arm does not always say that there is an heart problem
Doctor :   but it is always better to rule out the heart cause involved
Doctor :
as even the heart cause can give such symptoms
User :   ok. is the echo cardiograph a painful procedure?
Doctor :
no it is like a ultrasound machine where you will be lying on the bed and the doctor will put one wire on the chest and see your heart on the monitor
User :   ok thanks
User :   appreciate
