Pregnant and having back pain. Suggest the treatment? - Online Doctor Chats
My wife is pregnant and in her fourth month
and now she is complaining that she is getting lot of back pain
when checked with the regular doctor, the one that we are visiting, she said that it is not related to pregnancy
but can be some issues with the back, like not sitting properly
something like that
but now the pain is very severe for her
my counterpart are work said that its very common in pregnancy
the back ache
counterpart at work*
So what could be the reason
is there something to worry
should i take to her to hospital?
I need to know a few things
Is this her first pregnancy?
How many weeks is it exactly?
From how long does she have back pain?
last three days
Does it come and go or it just stays?
from the last two days she is complaining that its there
it just stays and she feels a little fine when she relaxes(lie down)
How bad is it on a scale of 1 - 10 where 10 is the worst?
I would say 5-6
she said today she had shooting pain today
Is the pain radiating?
For example to legs etc?
yes i guess
she complained she has her thighs paining too
Where exactly is the pain on back?
its lower back
in the center?
over the spine?
in the centre
Most probably due to growth of uterus and improper posture her back has gotten strained
Most back pains get better on their own in some time
If she does not get better then she may need a visit to an orthopedic surgeon, where she has to tell the doctor about her ongoing pregnancy
Tell her to change her posture frequently
Move around or walk around when pain is bad
Take enough milk at least 2 -3 glasses
She has to stop bending
OK doctor, we would work on this
I think it should get better in few days
Do you have any question here?
does mattress has to do anything with tjos
The mattress has to be such that supports the back
do you suggest spring mattress
It should neither be hard nor soft
But in between
Orthopedic mattresses are the best for back pain
Spring mattress is also ok
Take her along while shopping for it, so that she can try
thank you doctor
