I have a question about pregnancy and abortion
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Please proceed with the query.
User :   Hello
User :   I have a question about pregnancy and abortion
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   my girl friend almost has normal periods... no delay in periods ever or perhaps very negligible
User :   Her last periods started on Jan 13th
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   and maybe ended on 16th.. but the bleeding stopped on 15th if i may add
User :   we are in a live in relationship and we had unprotected sex...
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   it was a mutual decision and she had taken the pills in less than 24 hours...
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   we had sex multiple times, within say the first 8-9 days of her periods getting over
User :   and now its almost 40 days and she has not yet got her periods
User :   so is this a sign to worry about?
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Yes this must be a sign to worry.
User :   i dont recollect exactly but i believe she had taken pills atleast on 2 occasions.. maybe 3 pills as well
Doctor :   the Period can be dealyed in usual scenarios by 3-5 or maximum of 1 week.
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   I would recommend you to follow these steps to avoid pregnancy : Doctor :   1. Get a Urine Strip test for Pregnancy immediately, i.e. tomorrow morning stream of urine.
User :   ok, but I have asked her to do it now.. but should it be done early morning
User :   ?
Doctor :   That would give the best results.
User :   ok
User :   and
Doctor :   2. A Second Urine strip test 2 days later again early morning stream.
User :   ok
Doctor :   3. A medication prescribed by a gynecologist which is combination of mifeprestone and misoprostol.
Doctor :   As there needs to be a proper prescription at this stage .
User :   ok
User :   and if it turns out positive, what are the options available for abortion? Can it be done medically or surgically?
Doctor :   It can be done medically .
Doctor :   no issue about that,
Doctor :   but it had to be confirmed whether a complte abortion took place by an ultrasound after teh pill.
Doctor :   this is mandatory as incomplte abortions cause complications.
User :   ok
User :   and if may ask you, how much does this procedure cost? Medically and in case surgically
Doctor :   Dont worry, it doesnt need surgical intervention.
Doctor :   It is not called surgical , but D & C.
Doctor :   iT IS not necessary at all at this stage.
User :   in other words suction, if im not mistaken
User :   ok, so your absolutely sure that, it is very early now and it can be handled safely with medications without any complication?
Doctor :   Yes absolutely.
Doctor :   There is no need to panic at all.
User :   is there a home pregnancy kit(brand) that you specifically suggest as a doctor?
