User :   Well, I am having some symptoms and was wondering if you could possibly tell me what to do?

User :   Well, for the last 2 -3 years I have felt light headed, and sometimes dizzy every other day or so. I went to the doctor and had a heart exam, EKG, and everyhting was fine. But, everytime I check my blood pressure its high. I told my doctor and he said it wasnt high blood pressure, it was probably dehydration..... Any ideas?
User :   I do eat a lot of fast, and or frozen foods. But I drink about 20-40 oz. of water each day.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   But I dont get any excercise. Other than walking to the car.
Doctor :   What is the BP recording on an average?
User :   usually around 140-150 / 90-100
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   That is considered as Hypertension.
Doctor :   You need to discuss with your clinician whether you would use medicines or control it with lifestyle changes.
Doctor :   I hope you realise that Hypertension could lead to heart problems, strokes, kidney failure and vision loss if left untreated.
User :   So do you think the dizziness and light headedness is probably the high blood pressure?
Doctor :   That is the most likely cause in your case.
User :   I just feel wierd having high BP being 23 years old....
Doctor :   I recommend that you should exercise atleast 1/2 hr a day either on a treadmill or go walking or jogging,

Doctor :   Hypertension can occur in any age group.
Doctor :   Do you smoke or chew tobacco/drink alcohol/Any illicit drugs/ betel nut chewing? If yes how much/how often and how long?
User :   Well, when I excercise, it seems I feel more lightheaded.....

User :   I drink alcohol like 3 times a month.
Doctor :   Do you have any other health problems?Ok
User :   asthma. but thats it/
Doctor :   What is your height and weight?
User :   5'9'' abot 195
Doctor :   195 pounds?
User :   yes,sorry.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   when i graduated i was at 145lbs
User :   So, I have gained substantial weight.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   That may be the cause for the high BP
User :   ok.
Doctor :   Regular exercise not only cuts down weight but also lowers high BP
Doctor :   You should try to restrict salt, oily and fatty foods
User :   yes, it seems extremely hard to o for me. I usually eat on the run.
User :   Are there any vitamins I can take hat will assist? I take nothing now.
Doctor :   You should take more salads and fruits
Doctor :   Not really
Doctor :   Just try to eat whole bread instead of regular bread
User :   Ok
Doctor :   eat salads or fruits as snacks rather than milk shakes or other fast foods
Doctor :   try to ask for the subs without mayonnaise
User :   any fruits? like bananas, oranges, apples?
Doctor :   Avoid bananas as they are fattening
Doctor :   rather eat apples, guavas, pine apples and any citrus fruits
User :   ok
Doctor :   restrict grapes too
User :   So, If I go to the doctor and he puts me on medicine, will I be able to exercise and get off the meds. Or once I am on them, am I stuck?
Doctor :   take less coffee and tea and try to take them without sugar
Doctor :   not really
Doctor :   I suggest that you start with exercise and diet
Doctor :   try for a month
Doctor :   the dizziness would come down
Doctor :   go for a check up after a month of regular exercise
Doctor :   and dieting
Doctor :   if the BP is still high, then you would need medications then,
User :   Ok, I will try that. I am just scared Im going to have a stroke o something. Cause there are times when I feel lightheaded and also feel a little "confused" and not as alert as usual.
User :   is that normal?
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Is there any disturbances in hearing, fever or any other health problem?
User :   No there sure isnt.
User :   Just occasionally my vision will temporarily get cloudy and my eyes will water like crazy.
User :   But I can blink a few times and it clears up.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Any headache?
User :   Yeah, I have been having headaches about 2-3 times a week, sometimes they are sharp. Then they willl just go away.
Doctor :   You should also get your vision tested.
User :   ok. i sure will.
Doctor :   I suggest that you consult an ophthalmologist and get this tested

User :   I live in a smaller town and my doctor doesnt communicate well, he is from a foreign country. I have gotten a lot of help from you today!
