User :   Hi, may I answer your health que
User :   hello?
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   please proceed with your health query
User :   so here's the situation
User :   about 11 days ago I got a sore throat and the next day had the flu by all accounts
User :   but then around day 3-6 I started having panic attacks thinking I was dying and what not from looking up too many symptoms online lol.. I also had to do a lot of stuff that week like perform with my band and help my roomate move.. I felt horrible the whole time
User :   anyway, my girlfriend convinced me to calm down and that I wasn't resting enough and prolonging it..
User :   so I managed to beat the panic attacks and rest for the last few days
Doctor :   ok
User :   yesterday was the first day I felt better
User :   and then this morning I woke up feeling swell and was in bed and after about 3 hours in bed I went to make some yogurt and banana
User :   on the way I got really weak and felt reeallllly weak I had to sit down
User :   I mean weaker than I had almost the whole time I was sick
Doctor :   ok. do you have any other symptoms? if yes please describe them in detail.
User :   I then realized that for about the last 10 or 11 days I had only been eating 1/8 cup of yogurt and a can of chicken noodle soup, about 10-15 grams of protein total per day (maybe 20 when I put some spinach in there)
User :   I don't have any other symptoms now except I just feel really weak
User :   like i don't feel sick anymore just weak
User :   I started freaking out again that I have chronic fatigue syndrome or something
User :   I was wondering if my weakness could be from lack of protein... also my left shoulder and leg started feeling sore
Doctor :   no, it will not be "chronic fatigue syndrome or something ". your symptoms can be attributed to your eating habits
User :   about 4 hours ago I got a protein shake and took a nap and I'm feeling a little stronger but still weakened pretty bad
Doctor :   you should improve with taking a well balanced diet.
User :   is it normal to have fatigue like that after the flu for that long (10 days)
User :   it just seemed weird because I woke up feeling better like I wasn't even sick anymore
User :   ?
Doctor :   if the sore throat and flu symptoms were viral in origin, then the fatigue can be explained
Doctor :   as post viral syndrome that can last for upto a month
User :   it seemed pretty standard flu like symptoms.. sore throat, weakness tired
User :   oh wow
Doctor :   making you feel weak and with lack of concentration and fatigue
User :   even sudden onsets of fatigue like that
User :   ?
Doctor :   yes, it can be if your diet is not good
Doctor :   after any infection, your need good high protien diet to restore your body functions
User :   i read that for my size I should be getting at least 60-90 grams of protein a day (I am 6'1' 170)
Doctor :   if you do not , then you can have sudden bouts of weakness when body reserves for glucose and protein are low.
User :   so 10-20 grams a day for 11 days was probably pretty taxing on my body huh/
User :   I see
User :   so my plan is (i have the next 4 days off) to rest at her house and drink lots of liquids and protein shakes and chicken soups and not over exert even when I am feeling better
User :   does that sound smarT?
Doctor :   60-90 grams of protein is your daily requirement
Doctor :   this requirement goes up by 10-20 gms extra when you are in illness and recovery phase
User :   okay so my body was probably really low (i am fairly thin and not muscly anyway)
User :   oh i see
User :   The worst part is it's hard for me not to get panicky and think it's going to last forever.. any advice on how to cope with that?
User :   that's why i thought i was going to have chronic fatigue or something
Doctor :   to avoid panic attacks, best is top get it identified properly to see if medication use is waranted
Doctor :   if it is only mild attacks, then counseling can take care of it
User :   I never have them any other time in my life... just if I am sick for more than a week
User :   or If I have to perform in front of people (i'm a musician) but that seems normal
Doctor :   if it is moderate to severe panic attacks or anxiety then medication use is a must to keep symptoms under control
User :   any foods that calm the nerves?
User :   I try to avoid medication, specially since I don't have health insurance
User :   is there meds I can take only when I have them (not all the time)?
Doctor :   natural ones include having green tea or XXXXXXXX tea 2-3 times a day, and doing meditation
Doctor :   for medication use occasionally,
Doctor :   you will need to consult a psychologist first to identify the exact problem and prescription of medications
Doctor :   that you can take when having symptoms
