User : I was recently diagnosised with a nerve disorder on my left leg side.
My baby toe on my left side feels seperated and foreign from the rest of my foot. It causes me issues with walking. I feel like it would be better cut off. What could be my issue?
Doctor : hi
Doctor : let me read ur query
User : Hi, I don't even know if the diagnosis for nerve is is correct.
Doctor : it seems you may be having a foot drop like syndrome due to peripheral neuropathy
User : is there anything I can do about this? or what should they be doing?
Doctor : have they done any nerve conduction studies ?
User : no just blood work and a ulta sound to make sure it was not a blockage.
User : They put me on Galprtrin if that is correct?
Doctor : u mean gabapentin ?
User : yes 3 times a day for total of 300 mg.
Doctor : were all tests done nomal ?
User : The only one I have heard of so far was the ultra sound was clear.
User : The gabapentin has given me severe headaches and a reddish skin tone on my face
User : that looks like I am burning with fever is this normal?
Doctor : did the doctor say, what the cause was ?
User : no?
Doctor : If it is a suspected neuropathy, a nerve conduction study or a EMG will help to know the cause and the level affected
User : So I need to ask about this? was not even brought up.
Doctor : yes, u need to ask about this
User : What about the medication reactions?
Doctor : also use of splints of the affected foot will help to regain foot function
Doctor : the medication effects are short lived
User : OK I will ask about that. I am still having the pai in the upper part of my thigh and calf
User : then it runs to numbing of the foot and tingling.
Doctor : does the pain increase when u bend forwards ?
User : alittle but it is almost always there. And sitting or standing or sleeping does not matter.
Doctor : ok
Doctor : this seem like sciatica
User : the pain started like severe constant
Doctor : you will need physiotherapy for a few months
User : I will suggest that.
Doctor : gabapentin is given as first medicine in such cases
User : Oh ok. So I definetly need to call her back with the status of meds.
Doctor : yes
User : OK Thanks, I will get on that. Because I cannot work like this.
Doctor : also, you need to know if there is any pressure on the nerves in the lower spine
Doctor : this can be examined by a examination
Doctor : or also by a MRI if the symptoms are too much
User : OK So I will give her the details, why she did not check all this I don't know.
Doctor : in most cases, gabapentin, and physiotherapy and stretch excersies will help very much
User : Thanks for your help!
Doctor : u r welcome
Doctor : i hope i have answered ur questions
User : Yes, Thanks.
Doctor : please leave ur feedback
Doctor : it will be appreciated very much
User : I will.
Doctor : thanks and take care
Doctor : have a great day
User : U to.
