User :   Hello Dr., Good Morning
User :   Me and my wife are on a trip to,, and she has developed an Abscess, about 3 cm in width
User :   The doctor that we consulted with here has advised us to fo in for a minor surgery
User :   some thing she called an IND procedure..
Doctor :   Where is the abscess
Doctor :   It is called I & D procedure
Doctor :   Incision and Drainage
User :   Its in her left thigh
Doctor :   The treatment of choice for abscess is I & D
Doctor :   where a cut is made on the Abscess and the contents are squeezed out
Doctor :   and it repacked with sterile guaze and dressing done
Doctor :   It takes 3 weeks to completely heal
User :   does it also require any anesthesia?
Doctor :   Local anesthesia is given
Doctor :   before the incision is done
User :   is this a routine procedure or something complex, am a bit concerned because of the fact that i am outside India
User :   also if we need to take any additional care in terms of food, etc..
User :   or like keeping the area dry
Doctor :   This is a simple and common procedure and procedure of choice if the abscess is medium sized and causing more pain, it takes just 10 to 15 minutes
