Doctor :   hello
Doctor :   sorry we had some technical problem before
User :   Hi,its ok... I am 27 years and recently got married, a month ago.I am suffering with Poly cystic ovaries syndrome..where there are cysts in the ovaries.I have got 2 utltrasounds done.My periods are irregular, meaning, 1-2 months they skip or the flow is less or minimal. What should I do, should I opt for homopathic treatment or should I directly see a gynecologist?I am afraid to take any contraceptives, as I have heard that they harm the body in the long run. Please help, me make a right decision, by guiding me. Moreover, I have been facing hair fall alot, my hair have thinned as compared to each passing year..its too much of a tension for me, I used to have such good long hair, but hair fall has ruined it all .
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   when were you diagnosed?
User :   it was 2 years ago
Doctor :   ok well i am sure guide you the right way
User :   I had been taking homepathic medicine since past one year.
Doctor :   now to begin with , are you over weight >'
Doctor :   ?
User :   during that time hair fall was controlled, but after 9 months duration when i got the ultasound done, PCOS wasn't better, it was the same.
Doctor :   ok
User :   My height is 5'7", and currently my weight is 58 kgs
Doctor :   ok now as you know there are many symptoms typical with this condition
Doctor :   1) Absent or irregular periods
Doctor :   2) Weight gain
Doctor :   3) acne
Doctor :   4) thinning of scalp hair
Doctor :   Not all people who suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome will have all of these symptoms. Different women have different symptoms, and in differing levels of severity. Also, individuals may find that they have different symptoms at different times in their life.
User :   since last year my weight has increased from 52-->55-->58
Doctor :   The actual cause of polycystic ovary syndrome is unknown; however current knowledge about the disease suggests that there are many factors that are important.
Doctor :   There seems to be evidence linking polycystic ovary syndrome with higher than normal levels of a hormone known as insulin. Insulin is a hormone that controls blood sugar levels. A lot of women with polycystic ovary syndrome have a problem known as insulin resistance. If somebody has insulin resistance they need higher levels of insulin to be released to control their blood sugar
Doctor :   If you are overweight, this can worsen the problem. This is because having excess body fat also makes insulin resistance worse, and so the levels of insulin in the body are increased even more.
Doctor :   so the key first is WEIGHT CONTROL
Doctor :   thast number one
User :   ahaan
User :   then should i stop taking sugar completly?
Doctor :   yes it will be better
User :   means starchy food and lesser carbohydrates?
User :   okay...
Doctor :   also i will suggest you definitely see a gynecologist
User :   and what about taking contraceptives or harmonal medicines?
Doctor :   It is also important to remember that whilst polycystic ovary syndrome may lead to difficulties getting pregnant
Doctor :   these hormonal medications will regulate your system and help you
Doctor :   in the long run
User :   i have heard that many gynae give contraceptives saying that these are harmonal medicines, and which harm us in long i m dead scared to go to a gynae

Doctor :   PCOD is a very common condition and any well qualified gynecologist can help you , esp one with good experience
User :   okie
Doctor :   dont worry
User :   and about the thinning of hair?
Doctor :   you will be fine
User :   is it because of this or would it be because of something else?
Doctor :   its because of this only
User :   Is me being sexually active with my partner affect the PCOS?
Doctor :   dont worry you will be fine
Doctor :   no it wont
User :   means there are harmones which are released in body...
