the top of my hands and feet have a weird sesation when they get a cold numbness

User :   Im Female and 41 and its been about 2 weeks
Doctor :   Do you find bluish discoloration of fingers when exposed to cold weather?
User :   no

Doctor :   Do you notice pain, pins and needle sensation?
Doctor :   Do you have history of diabetes in the past?
Doctor :   Have you had similar symptoms?
Doctor :   Do you smoke or consume alcohol?
Doctor :   Are you any regular medications?
Doctor :   Do you use illicit drugs?
User :   no pain or pins and needles it like all the nerve endings in the top of feet and hands are feeling a different sensation to the water than the rest of my body, gestational diabetes I do drink but no drugs or smoking

Doctor :   Since, I cannot physically examine you, I cannot pinpoint the exact cause, however based on your description
Doctor :   the following 2 conditions are the probably cause
Doctor :   1. Paraesthesia probably due to peripheral neuropathy.
Doctor :   This condition is occurs due to nerve inflammation which may have been caused by diabetes, a previous viral illness or alcohol.
Doctor :   Most often this condition can be reversed with proper blood sugar control, restricting alcohol consumption and multivitamin supplements.
Doctor :   Vitamin B12 rich food such as liver, egg, vegetables and fruits are necessary.
Doctor :   Symptoms usually settle down in a few weeks, if the causative factors are controlled.
Doctor :   The second possibility is a vascular abnormalities.
Doctor :   Symptoms such as these are common in a condition called Reynold's phenomena.
Doctor :   Your symptoms are not very significant suggesting the later condition, however
Doctor :   if you develop numbness, discoloration of finger, finger nails, pins and needles sensations, you will need to see a doctor for evaluation.
Doctor :   Evaluation to look for possible vascular abnormalities.
