User:I am hoping you can help me

Doctor:How are you doing?
User:a lilttle anxious
User:i had my periods on the 15th of this month as usual
User:From this afternoon I have been bleeding again. I am currently using a combination pill.
User:what may be causing the bleeding?
Doctor:Currently, you're using the estrogen+progesterone oral contraceptive pill right?
Doctor:How old are you XXXXXX?
Doctor:How severe is the bleeding?
User:it just started, but i can feel its a little light.... not the thick dark discharge i have during my periods
User:its comparitively less
Doctor:Is there any abdominal pain or vaginal discharge ?
User:no pain as such but what do you mean by vaginal discharge ?
Doctor:like a fluid (other than blood) coming from the vagina
User:not that i noticed
Doctor:this happened around afternoon today... i am using a pad now... but no staining till now

User:i got married in Oct 2011
Doctor:Ok, XXXXXXX what you are currently having is called intermenstrual bleeding
Doctor:It can occur due to a variety of reasons
Doctor:This includes stress, hormonal abnormalities, or some sort of infection in the vagina or the cervix
Doctor:This is not something you need to worry about and it would subside on its own
User:could it be implantation beeling... i was reading online
User:or a very early miscarriage?

Doctor:IS there any other complaint like weight gain, lethargy, difficult sleeping, depression?
User:yes, have been feeling tired
Doctor:If you take your pills regularly, the OCP is one of the safest contraceptive methods available
User:and have gained some weight in the last 3 months

Doctor:Have you been eating and exercising the same way as before?
User:yes, not much has changed in my life style, but i have gained more that a little weight

User:around 5kilos
Doctor:Even though the possibility is low, XXXXXXX I suggest you get yourself investigated for hypothyroidism
Doctor:Lets get a Thyroid stimulating hormone level done for starters
Doctor:If that is normal, I can be confident I have ruled this out
User:and what if there is no more bleeding tomorrow, what does that mean
Doctor:In all probability, it will stop on its own
Doctor:I expect it to stop quickly
Doctor:I also want you to see a gynaecologist and get a Pap smear done and a local examination done
Doctor:So we have ruled out any local lesion
User:let me write these down
Doctor:and since you are married, I want you take this Pap smear once every year
User:do i need anything else?
Doctor:I think it must be some local trauma or some stress that we are looking at
User:ok. one more question
User:my body temperature is ususlly a little high. always
Doctor:Its normal if its always like that
Doctor:For some people, the hypothalamus which controls the temperature, is set at a higher level
Doctor:as long as you take 2-3 litres of water, you should be good
User:i will keep that in mind
User:so these tests u suggested can wait few days, or do i need them right now
Doctor:No, you can wait and get it done
Doctor:Its not an emergency at all
