User:Hello doctor
Doctor:How are you doing?
User:I am fine. I have a question regarding my newly born baby
Doctor:go ahead
User:She just completed two days today. She peed only once in the morning today .. after that she is passing solids i.e. stool etc. but not peeing. Is it ok or something to concern about
Doctor:Are you feeding her every 2 hours?
User:Her mother is not having enough milk so we are providing her lactogen powder (for pre-term babies she born after 36 week 2 days)
User:she had taken it 3 times since mornig
User:also a little bit of mother's milk as she is not getting enough
Doctor:Was the lactogen prescribed or did you start it on your own?
User:doctor told that if the baby is crying and you are not getting enough milk then you can give it to baby.
Doctor:Se there are a few things we need to clarify here
Doctor:First, if you dont feed your child, the production of breast milk will decrease
Doctor:If there is no breast milk, you cant feed your child
Doctor:So it becomes a vicious cycle
Doctor:Second thing, it takes a few days for the mother's milk production to increase
Doctor:During the first few days, a thick milk called colostrum is produced
Doctor:This is sufficient for the baby
Doctor:Your child is not passing urine because she is not getting enough milk
User:What she is producing sometimes kind of transparent one or few drops ..
User:the powder is actually Pre-Nan (nestle) for pre term babies and babies having weight less than 2.5 kg.
Doctor:You need to feed your child first Chary
Doctor:There are no two ways about it
Doctor:That powder is not a substitute
Doctor:Breast milk has a lot of benefits
User:she is feeding it whenever possible but if still she is crying then only we are giving it to baby.
Doctor:She needs to feed her child every 2 hours
Doctor:It will take 2-3 days for the milk production to increase
Doctor:This needs to be done even at night
Doctor:so I would suggest you feed the child properly
Doctor:If she does not pass urine till night again, please see a physician
Doctor:For premature children, it is even more necessary to breast feed them
Doctor:she needs to hold her child properly and feed her
User:ok we will do it for sure. but it is normal for peeing only once .. or we should contact doctor. one more question, can we use pump to suck out milk and then provide it to baby
Doctor:No , it is not normal
Doctor:You need to start feeding her every 2 hours
Doctor:If she does not pass urine till tonight
Doctor:Please see a physician
User:ok doctor
Doctor:You can use a pump but it would be best to feed her
Doctor:Direct breast feeding helps the mother and child bond
Doctor:and also helps both of them remain healthy
User:thanks for the advice
Doctor:Please put an alarm for every 2 hours and do this
Doctor:Its essential
User:ok thanks doctor
Doctor:Is there anything else I can help you with?
User:that's it doctor thanks.
Doctor:thanks for consulting me
Doctor:take care
User:hello doctor one more query
Doctor:this is Dr. XXXXXXX
User:it was regarding not peeing by the baby
Doctor:Please go ahead
User:if she doesn't urinate by tonight (she did once in the morning), should I go to doctor in the night itself or can I wait till tomorrow
Doctor:Please go tonight itself
User:ok thanks
Doctor:But please feed the baby first frequently
Doctor:is there anything else I can help you with?
User:that's it thanks.
