User :   I got a ligament rupture injury on 5th june.had plaster for 4 weeks.then neurologist found that my peroneal nerve is i am not able to move leg , foot, fingers,no feleings no sensations...unable to walk...... so want to know how much time does it take to recover...
Doctor :   hi
User :   hi how r u ?
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here. let me read what you have typed.
User :   ya
Doctor :   the nerve injuries take a long time to recover upto 3-6 months time is needed
Doctor :   is there compression that has caused this?
User :   yeah
Doctor :   if compression is found then a decompression should be done to resolve this problem
Doctor :   usually a repeat surgery is needed for this
User :   my reports says finding reveal predominantly neuropraxic lesion of left peroneal nerve at fibular head
Doctor :   and before that nerve conduction tests are needed to find the level of compression/injury
User :   yeah my report says above
User :   wat does it means?
Doctor :   ok. then it can be corrected
Doctor :   neuropraxia means that there is no permanent damage, and that teh fibres are ibtact
Doctor :   only the lining is affected
Doctor :   once the compression is removed, you will get back the function
User :   ok
User :   how much time does it take?
Doctor :   so the faster the repeat correction is done, the better it is.
Doctor :   after correction surgery, it should be followed up by physiotherapy
User :   correction surgery means?
Doctor :   to help you recover faster
Doctor :   it will take 3-6 months time to get recovered
User :   my worry is i m already on bed since 2 months...15 days back i came to know that nerve got now according to u how long does it take
User :   ok..
Doctor :   correction surgery is the repeat surgery for resolving the compression issue
User :   does it require cut?
Doctor :   if it was only 15 days back, then go ahead with the discussion about the correction
User :   ok....
Doctor :   it will require exploration and opening up of sutures to see where the nerve is got compressed.
User :   so it means it takes long time to recover properly...
User :   ?
Doctor :   and you should start seeing recovery withing 1 week to 10 days time
User :   will i be able to move properly ????
Doctor :   and with adequate physiotherapy, you will get back normal functions and strength in 3-6 months time.
Doctor :   the repeat surgery is to help you get back your normal movements soon
User :   ok...
Doctor :   so discuss about this with your orthopedician and aneurologist
Doctor :   and go ahead with th treatment
User :   is there any case that person not able tomove for long period of timelike 2-3 yrs?
Doctor :   the sooner you get it done, the better it is.
Doctor :   no , not at all
User :   i m just worried that i shldnt become handicapped?
Doctor :   if you leave it at this stage, you will slowly get pushed to permanent disability to use your foot
User :   yeha me already consulting a neurologist for nerve
Doctor :   since it is recently diagnosed, the chances of full recovery are high
Doctor :   if correction is done now
User :   and orthopaedics for ligament injury
Doctor :   ok
User :   i got injury on 5th june
User :   but didnt notice it due to ligament injury
User :   but later my body started going numb so it means it is already 2 months for the injury but we notcied after 1.5 months
Doctor :   yes it is common to notice nerve injuries a little later when the actual problem gets solved.
User :   ok....
Doctor :   so focus now on getting the location of teh compression identified
Doctor :   and getting it resolved
User :   yeah sure
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?
User :   yes doctor
User :   thanks for helping
Doctor :   is there anything else you would like to ask me?
User :   no
User :   thanks a lot
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me. bye for now.
User :   can i ask one more query
User :   ?
