User :   My child (10 y old) has developed a habit of shaking (ticking) his neck unconsciously while studying or watching TV. On asking him he says that he is unable to control this syndrome. This has increased many fold over a period of last fortnight. We are not sure what to do in this case and how to erase this habit(Syndrome). Please suggest
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   let me read what you have typed
Doctor :   is there any other symptom that he is facing?
User :   no he is absolutely normal
Doctor :   is he fidgety otherwise?
User :   no
Doctor :   does he have lack of concentration while studying or doing any job that requires attention?
User :   this thing has come up from few months.. he is good in studies
Doctor :   ok
User :   we have not seen any thing like this in him
Doctor :   if he is not having any other symptoms,
Doctor :   and there is no change in behavior noticed by you
Doctor :   then he would just require counselling in form of behavioral therapy
Doctor :   to help him get out of this habit
User :   we have also got ASO Title test done
User :   which came normal
Doctor :   get him examined by is pediatrician once and discuss posibility of getting one counseling with a child psychologist
Doctor :   if no other problem is found ,and the ticking is present only while studying

Doctor :   then no need to worry about it, it is a normal pattern in children to try and focus on one thing
Doctor :   and not get distracted
Doctor :   it wil slowly go away as he grows up, if no other organic problem is found
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?
User :   yes.. problem is now since last 3 days this has grown
User :   and he does it continuously except only when he is sleeping
Doctor :   ok. so he will need an examination
Doctor :   and an evaluation by a psychologist
Doctor :   such that the exact cause can be found and treated adequately
