User :   Bascially, I have a nagging pain on my left hand muscle

User :   it is on the upper portion of the hand on the muscle.. not severe but uncomforatble

User :   no not particular while moving the shoulder

User :   regarding cholestrol it was high and taken medicine ,

Doctor :   Sitting at one end of the computer, without a physical examination,it is hard to predict what might be causing the pain, however based on your history

Doctor :   they could be the causing the pain.
Doctor :   1. Discomfort is muscular strain, probably due to you sleeping in a bad posture or some other injury.
Doctor :   2. Pain could be a radiating pain due to a cervical spine problem
Doctor :   3. Unlikely and a rare possibilty is this symptoms could be an indication of a heart problem ( your symptoms are not consistent with heart pain
Doctor :   and in the absence of risk factors)
Doctor :   the 3rd condition is most unlikely.

User :   what kind of a test or consultation would help to identify the cause.

Doctor :   1. Proper rest - a good rest preferably on the back or on the opposite side is advisable.
Doctor :   2. Use hot water bags on the shoulder
Doctor :   3. Antiinflammatory medications such as Tab Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day after meal for 3-5 days can be used for pain relief
Doctor :   4. Local antinflammatory agents such as diclofenac spray can be used on the affected region/
Doctor :   These measures should help you in reducing the discomfort. I expect you to be better in a few days. However if you persist to have the symptoms

Doctor :   a. To see an orthopedician or spine surgeon for physical examination
Doctor :   b. X ray of the cervical spine
Doctor :   c. ECG of the heart
Doctor :   Based on the reports of these tests, the next steps of treatment will be planned.
