User :   I occasionally experience pain in my right leg the varies between my hip and knee. It generally lasts between 15 seconds and 3 minutes. It is a sharp pain (kind of what a bubble could possibly feel like). It doesn't feel like a cramp. It has happened 3 times in the last month. Once while walking and the others while sitting. I do not use any prescription or over the counter drugs. Last check I had normal blood pressure and pulse
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   Hi
Doctor :   ok, is the pain in any specific time of the day ?
User :   No-also correction is it is in my left leg
Doctor :   ok, Are the movements affected during the pain ?
User :   When I was walking it hurt enough I couldn't walk.while sitting I just wait for the pain to go away
Doctor :   Ok, May i know your age , gender and occupation ?
User :   53. Male. Office manager
Doctor :   Do you smoke ?
User :   No. Run 2 times a week, weight 165 and 6 ft tall. Relatively healthy
Doctor :   ok, i think the pain is due to muscle spasm or vascular compromise
User :   What is vascular compromise.
Doctor :   i would suggest you to first apply DICLOFENAC gel over the affected area , if it comes down , then the muscular involvement is confirmed
Doctor :   and a good massage everyday for a week or two will suffice
Doctor :   and if not relieved , then i would suggest you to get a doppler scan of the femoral artery
Doctor :   vascular compromise means lack of good blood supply , which may be due to
Doctor :   partial block created by either a emboli or a atherosclerotic ( fat plaque )
User :   This is all internal. There is no external symptoms. What does the DICLOFENAC gel do
Doctor :   emboli is a clot of blood or chunk of any other blocking the blood vessel
Doctor :   Diclo fenac gel decreases the pain if its from the muscle in origin
Doctor :   it reduces if any inflammation in the muscle which would have resulted from a strain
Doctor :   sprain*
Doctor :   hence trial with diclofenac gel and then if not relieved a doppler scan of the femoral artery ( main blood vessel of the lower limb )
will give a clear insight into determining the cause
User :   Would I apply the gel daily as a preemptive solution
Doctor :   yes, it will work , but the action of it can be determined well if applied during the attack
Doctor :   if it helps then preemptive application is the solution
User :   The attacks are very short lived. 15 sec to 3 minutes
Doctor :   and applying for a week will bring down your pain to nil
Doctor :   ok, then its fine if you apply when you plan for a walk
Doctor :   this too helps
