Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   hi Dr. how are you today?
Doctor :   I am doing fine. Thank you.
User :   i need some advice regarding phlegm/mucus
Doctor :   Please describe your symptoms.
User :   i have persistent phlegm that occasionally causes cough. i also run long distance and when i start running, i cough at the initial stages, then vomit a bit. after the vomit, i am good and there is no problem
Doctor :   May I know your age and gender?
Doctor :   Since when are you having the symptoms?
User :   i turned 44 in sep 2010, male. this has been going on for a long time - would say years, but it does not always happen. when it does, lats for about a month during which period i cough more frequently. it doesnt hurt, but it is very irritating. i can feel phlegm and spit it out.
Doctor :   Do you have diabetes, hypertension, bronchial asthma.
User :   no. i am not sure if i can tell about asthma
Doctor :   ??
User :   i don'thave diabetes or hypertension
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you have allergies?
User :   not that i know of
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   Sudden onset breathing discomfort, cough following a physical strain can be due to the following 3 cause
User :   ok
Doctor :   1. Allergic cause
Doctor :   2. Probable asthma
Doctor :   3. Certain cardiac causes.
Doctor :   Based on your symptoms it probably looks like an allergy is triggering the symptoms, however due to your age,
Doctor :   cardiac evaluation including cholesterol check is necessary.
Doctor :   While you get the evaluations, you can use the measures to treat allergic symptoms.
Doctor :   Are you following?
User :   hm... you mention physical strain, but the cough can start any time (morning after i wake up, after i have lunch, evening , etc.). moreover, there is this phlegm in my chest. so would that be a symptom of an allergy?
Doctor :   Do you smoke?
User :   regarding physical strain, it usually happens at teh beginning of my run. once i vomit out the spit, it doesn't happen at all
User :   i don't smoke or drink alcohol
Doctor :   Let me put across in simple words.
Doctor :   I am sorry
Doctor :   I was busy with an urgent phone call
