User :   I have a question about my wife's missed period.

User :   she took a paracetamol when she had too much pain on the day

User :   but after that she missed completely
User :   she is not pregnant. but she is getting tired a lot last few days

User :   so its been close to 45 days since last period. should this be of worry ?
User :   she usuallyhave periods every 35 days by the way

Doctor :   May I ask you a few questions pertaining to your wife's problem to help you better ?
User :   sure
Doctor :   There are numerous other reasons othefr than pregnancy which can lead to missed periods, I shall try to elaborate on them, but how have you ruled out Pregnancy, did you do a test ?
User :   no. we were taking precautions and I believe we can rule that out .
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   1. Stress, sleeplessness and anxiety is one major reeason in modern days and working woman.
Doctor :   2. Any illness, short or long can cause the periods to be delayed.
Doctor :   3.Change in Schedules : Changing schedules can really throw off your body clock. This is particularly true if you go from days to nights at work or vice versa.

Doctor :   4. Gross anemia or low hemoglobin level can be the some of the causes apart from the hormonal imbalances due to pills or other factors like thyroid problems,etc.
Doctor :   5.Being Overweight :
Carrying around too much weight can hormonally shift your cycles and even stop them. Most women will see a return to normal cycles and fertility with the loss of some weight.
User :   Okay. She is not working. She is not overweight also.
Doctor :   Hope you have followed, Can you correlate with anyone of these , apart from the illness, as it can also cause delay.
User :   could that paracetamol might have caused this ?
Doctor :   No , not at alll, Paracetamol would not have caused as it is harmless, but the illness could have caused it to delay the process.
User :   How to check whether she is anemic or has low hemoglobin level ?
Doctor :   Please get a Blood Haemoglobin test done for that -- Hb Test, and CBC Test.
User :   As I mentioned her period was supposed to happen last week. Things were okay till 3 days back. But since last three days she becomes tired every now and then.
Doctor :   You shall get the reports i less than 12 hrs.
User :   would this be because of missing periods ?
Doctor :   Does she having this feeling before every period, which we see in more than 20% of women, called Pre-menstrual syndrome.
Doctor :   Where they have headaches, body pains, flushes or tiredness - any of these symptoms.
User :   indeed yes. she used to get really tired from an obesrvers point of view. But she was mentioning that this is a different king of tiredness!
Doctor :   or more than one symptom or all of them.
User :   she has headaches and tiredness since last few days
Doctor :   Yes.It is very common to have this before the onset of the period.
Doctor :   If there is severe pain or abdominal cramps then you have to worry, as it can be anything else .
User :   she does not have pain or cramps, but tiredness and headaches.
Doctor :   But apart from that please ask her to follow the few steps that I advise : Doctor :   1. Please ask her to take rest for next couple of days.2. To rehydrate well - fruits, veggies, juices and less spicy food.
User :   okay
Doctor :   3. Also get a CBC , ESR, Hb test done which will rule out any anemia or illness - which ever may be the reason.
Doctor :   If there is anemia, Hb will be low.
User :   okay
Doctor :   If there is any fever or illness , ESR will be high
Doctor :   these will make it clear.
User :   do i need a prescription from doctor to do the tests ?
Doctor :   No, you dont need one, you can get them done.
Doctor :   Please let m eknow tomorrow , the results and I shall follow up, Do not worry.
User :   okay will do . thank you.
Doctor :   4.Meanwhile ask her to start with Threptin biscuits - protein & iron & multivitamin biscuits
