Doctor : hi
Doctor : how can i help you
User : Hi.. I am six weeks pregnant. I had my ultrasound got done today. It says fetus has mild Bradycardia. What does it mean?
Doctor : heart is low
Doctor : heart rate is low
Doctor : what the heart rate?
User : Is there anything to worry?
User : It is 117 to 120 bpm
Doctor : thats fine
Doctor : normal fetal heart rate can be between 110 to 160
Doctor : per minute
Doctor : if the fetal heart rate is less than 100 beats per minute then it is called fetal bradycardia
User : Everytging else looks good and normal except heartbeat.. I am a little worried.. I am bieng asked to get the scanning done again after two weeks to confirm viability
Doctor : ok
Doctor : yes that is usual procedure
User : So I need not worry about it?
Doctor : are you taking any medicine other than the medicine prescribed by gynecologisy
Doctor : gynecologist sorry
Doctor : 117 is withing normal limits
Doctor : u need not worry
Doctor : if it drops to 100
Doctor : then there couldbe some problem
User : no.. I am not taking any medicine except folic acid tablet and doctor has given me tablets for nausea which i rarely take as i dont have morning sickness or nausea
Doctor : ok
Doctor : lack of oxygen to fetus is one reason which causes fetal bradycardia
Doctor : if other parameters are normal
Doctor : then u need not worry
Doctor : but get a repeat check done in 2 weeks time as suggested
Doctor : dont worry
User : I am not able to breathe properly from few days as my nose is blocked. could that be a reason?
Doctor : u need to be cheerful and smiling
Doctor : yes it could be
Doctor : did u consult for this breathing problem
Doctor : do u have any abdominal pain or fever or bleeding
Doctor : as of now?
User : No.. as i am having it only from past two days.. I am still having breathing difficulty now..
Doctor : prolonged compression on umbilical chord can cause fetal bradycardia
Doctor : please consult a gynecologist then
User : No abdominal pain or fever.. Sometimes i get cramps which lasts for a min or so..
Doctor : if u have difficulty breathing
Doctor : ok
Doctor : thats normal in pregnancy
Doctor : if u have fever or abdominal pain or bleeding then u needto promptly consult a gynecologist
