User :   Hello,
I am going to a new doctor tomorrow because my family physician I have seen for years is over an hour away! I am on 3 different medications, 2 of them being narcotic. I am slightly concerned because the last time I took my drug test at my old doctors office one of the narcotics didn't show up in my system because I stayed @ the beach in a condo all weekend and the bottle said not to drink and take the medication so I skipped it all weekend and went to the doctor on Monday! So therefore when the results came back I received a letter stating my doctor would no longer treat me but would transfer my records to a new doctor of my choice! My worry is that they will have the drug test issue in my chart! Is this going to be a problem, or will that not be included?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read the query.
User :   Thanks
Doctor :   Can you mention the name of the medications that you are on and the reason why you have been on it?
User :   I am on Lexapro 10mg for my stress, ambien for sleep, and 7.5mg lortab for my back pain
Doctor :   Ok
User :   the lortab is what didn't show up because I didn't take it because I drank all weekend
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Have your symptoms worsened?
User :   No? All I need to know is if the test information will be transferred with my chart or if that is not included in a patient chart transfer
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   The details of all your medications that you are on and since when you been on the medications will be mentioned when transferring the records to your next doctor.
Doctor :   Sudden stopping of medications can lead to withdrawl, and hence this information is essential to a doctor in deciding the further course of treatment.
Doctor :   That's the reason, why I wanted to know if you had any new symptoms/worsening of symptoms.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User : you think the new doctor will continue my medication or will their be an issue due to that not being in my system and a notation of that being on my chart
Doctor :   The absence of drug in the system doesn't mean that the medications need to be stopped, however
Doctor :   if your back pain issues are fine without the medications, then I guess there is no need for the drug,
Doctor :   hence your next doctor will plan to slowly taper and stop the medications
Doctor :   if required.
User :   I cannot get around well without the medication and have never stopped use other then the weekend I drank because the bottle said to not drink and take the medication
Doctor :   I mean if required, the doctor will plan to taper and stop the medication.
User :   I was simply following the warnings on the bottle and it caused me to be dropped from my doctor
User :   I'm just hoping my new doctor will not pay attention to that test result I suppose so my medication isn't all messed up!
Doctor :   Drug compliance is an important criteria when dealing with narcotic medications, that may be the reason why your doctor has taken this decision.
Doctor :   you can speak to your doctor and be as regular as possible with his suggestions.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   so that test result will for sure be transferred with my chart?
Doctor :   The details that has to be mentioned is at the discretion of your doctor and its his individual choice. I would be mentioning the recent serum values when transferring a patient to a new doctor.
Doctor :   This aids the next doctor in continuing the treatment.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
Doctor :   Are you there?
Doctor :   I have to close the window as you are not responding. Please chat with our doctors 24/7 for medical queries.
