User :   I was prescribed Azithromycin for my ear infection yesterday. I have to take 1 pill for 4 days. I just took my second pill today at 2. I am pretty sure I have fluid blocked and I cannot hear well at all in my ear. Is this normal? What should I do?
Doctor :   from how many days u are having this problem?
User :   It started at about midnight last night when I woke up.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   what did the doctor tell?
Doctor :   did he tell anything like acute otitis media?
Doctor :   is there any discharge/pain?
User :   He said I have an ear infection and gave me the prescription. I am having a little discharge, yes. There is pain, but it's not severe.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   did u have similar complaints before?
User :   Nope
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   did doctor test ur hearing yesterday?
Doctor :   considerable amount of hearing loss is common in ear infection
User :   This started a few days after XXX. It was only a slight pain. I went to a doctor and she said she didn't see anything and nothing is wrong. She said I might just irritated my ear. Then Sunday it was itching really bad then clear discharge came out and it smelled bad and I went to a different doctor who said I have an ear infection, wrote my prescription and I took 1 yesterday around 4:30. I was feeling fine, it was just a little painful but today I feel pressure like there is fluid and I can't hear well in this one ear.
Doctor :   once the infection is reduced ur hearing will be normal
Doctor :   and there will be collection of fluid in the middle ear
User :   Ok, I just wanted to know if it was normal. I am kind of nervous about it.
Doctor :   nothing to worry
Doctor :   it is normal to have hearing loss in ear infection
Doctor :   continue the medication
User :   Do you know how long it will take for the swelling to go down with Azithromycin? It's for 4 days. It's been about 30 hours since I started it.
Doctor :   'it will take time and depends upon the type of the orgamnism and extent of infectiom
Doctor :   minimum of 48_72 hours is required to observe some change
User :   If I still have symptoms, should I go back to the doctor for another prescription or just leave it?
Doctor :   no no just go back to smae doctor
User :   Also, can I take Motrin to ease the pain from my ear with the antibiotic?
Doctor :   yes u can take
User :   Ok, well that's all I wanted to know. Thank you!
