User :   I have recently developed small, dark itchy spots around my genitals that when are dry, leave a dark powdery substance. While it is not painful, it is worrisome and extremely itchy. I am curious to know what this might be and how I might be able to 'cure' it.

Doctor :   you can use a antifungal medication
Doctor :   this could include a dosage of fluconazole
Doctor :   or a topical cream of fluconazole
User :   Can it be caused by a lot of sweating in the genital area? And, can I buy the medication you have suggested 'over the counter?

Doctor :   yes, you can get the medication OTC
Doctor :   you can also take a dose of any antihistamine like zyrtec, which can reduce the itching
User :   Well, what you have told me here is a relief. I was a bit concerned that it might have been VD. Before our time runs out, are you able to give some advice about what I can do in the meantime (until) I can get to a chemist, and to prevent it again.

Doctor :   good hygiene is very important in preventing recurrance
Doctor :   apply some ice or cold packs in the area to reduce the itching
