User :   I have had an itchy rash around the front and sides of my waist for about 6 months now, and use a daily application of Elocom cream to help relieve the itching (as prescribed by my doctor). It is related to pressure and gets a lot worse if ever I have to wear a belt or anything tight. I am on a waiting list to see a dermatologist, but it can be very annoying at times.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi
Doctor :   Give me few secs. to got through your query.
User :   OK
Doctor :   Ok,
Doctor :   May I know since when you are having this problem ?
User :   6 months now
Doctor :   Ok.Apart from itching do you have any other problems ?
Doctor :   Any reddishness
Doctor :   any blood oozing out
Doctor :   or any other complication ?
User :   No other problems with the rash. I am on medication for fluctuating blood pressure, migraines, hiatus hernia.
Doctor :   is it in the skin fold between tummy and waist where you put your belt and has it been aggravated by pressure of belt ?
User :   Reddiness is quite nasty on my sides especially. No blood. Yes it is where I put my belt and is aggravated by it
Doctor :   I would say it is a simple Intertrigo - Yeast Infection in Skin Folds.
User :   OK Is Elocom cream the right prescription for this?
Doctor :   Please use a Clotrimazole ointment twice every day , once afetr teh bath in the morning and once in the evening.
Doctor :   Very essential factor is you have to keep it dry and apply no pressure on it for a few days.
Doctor :   Elocom is a corticsteroid and may be used .
User :   I don't really have any skin folds in that area. My waist is quite flat where the reddishness shows. Does this affect your diagnosis?
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   but do you see any sort of this reddishness and itching in fingers or web of the fingers or toes ?
User :   No. Nowhere else
Doctor :   Usually elocon is used in atopic dermatistis or psoriasis .
Doctor :   HAS the derm had diagnosed that ?
Doctor :   In your case sheet ?
Doctor :   what has he stated in the case sheet ?
User :   I haen't been able to see the dermatologist yet - still on a waiting list. I don't think it's like psoriasis. It's completely flat. Can't feel it with my fingers. Can only see the redness and feel the itchiness
Doctor :   Then please go ahead and use the ointment that i have prescribed.
User :   OK Thank you
Doctor :   Thank you for ocnsulting me.
Doctor :   Take care, bye for now.
