User :   My 88 year old father was diagnosed with klesiella pneumoniae in a rehab hospital but was discharged to a nursing home without treatment for this. He developed a groin rash and 8 weeks later suffered an MI, septic shock and Community Acquired Pneumonia. After hospital treatment he returned to the nursing home to be barrier nursed as they have also discovered MRSA. 8 weeks later he went back to hospital with fluid on CAP. He died 8 weeks later. When he left the rehab hospital should he have gone to a hospital for treatment for the Klebs and was his own health and that of the other nursing home patients compromised?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi there
Doctor :   let me read your post
User :   Thanks
User :   should read fluid on lungs
User :   He was given a catheter in the rehab hospital and the Klebs developed after that
Doctor :   i consider it would be good if he was taken to hospital for treatment
Doctor :   infection cause stress which can lower down the immunity
Doctor :   was he a diabetic ?
User :   Did he need to go after the rehab hospital?
User :   No. Was doubly incontinent and suffering from dementia.

Doctor :   no , but he was susceptible to infections hence MRSA ( commonly hospital acquired )
User :   Thanks for that. Was the community acquired pneumonia he had when he arrived at the hospital due to the klebsiella
User :   Would you say someone with knlebsiella pneuminae has a primary health need?
Doctor :   yes, klebsiella , does cause that
Doctor :   tes,
Doctor :   yes,*
User :   So was the doctor who discharged him to the nursing home wrong?
User :   There was no treatment for the Klebs in the nursing home.

Doctor :   klebsiella can be well treated with broad spectrum and macrolide antibiotics
User :   But the results came to the rehab hospital after he had left and they just wrote File Discharged on the notes. Thay did not tell the nursing home about it either
Doctor :   it was important ,
User :   Thank you very much for your help
