User :   I have some intraurethral condyloma and my doctor is recommending they be removed surgically and followed by application efudex cream. I'm wondering if i need to go to the expense and trouble of surgery or if efudex might work on its own.
Doctor :   hi
User :   hello
Doctor :   yes you require to go through the surgery process for the removal of the condyloma

Doctor :
efudex is to prevent the recurrence and itself is not the treatment for the growth
User :   okay
User :   also, is there a way to remove intraurethral warts without performing a meatotomy?
User :   he is recommening a metotomy and laser ablation (sp?)
Doctor :
warts are the structures which require removal of the growth with a clear margin,
Doctor :
since it is intrauretheral without meatotomy the said standards to complete removal of the wart is not possible
Doctor :
hence it is requried to do meatotomy
Doctor :
if it is on the surface just electro cautery would have been suficient
User :   i understand
Doctor :
meatotomy is also to prevent the stricture following the surgery
Doctor :
are you there?
User :   yes
User :   sorry for that
User :   thanks for the information
User :   what is the healing time of that procedure?
Doctor :   it takes 3 to seven days
User :   that sounds fairly quick
Doctor :   under normal circiumstances and by 2 weeks most of them heal completely
User :   also, is general anesthesia necessary or could it be performed with just a local or epidural?
Doctor :
local if patient tolerates is best option, if not epidural is sufficient
Doctor :
even in general anesthesia also it can be done
User :   okay
Doctor :
but best option is local or epidural
User :   okay
User :   i believe my doctor was suggesting a general
User :   which seems expensive and risky
Doctor :   it is patience choice to express what he wants,

Doctor :   is there any likely contraindications for the epidural anesthesia in you?
User :   i don't know... i've never had one
User :   would what you look for?
User :   i'm a 28 year old male
Doctor :
discuss this with your treating surgeon, he is a better person to judge and give the explanation as it requires a face to face physical examination for the assessment
User :   understood
Doctor :   is there anything else i can help you with?
User :   i can't think of anything - you've been really helpful
User :   and thank you for your time
Doctor :
