Doctor :   Let me explain.
User :   I am having light food now but I am travelling to US tomorrow early morning hence the concern.
Doctor :   The medication that you had taken Ciplox TZ is good antibiotic to treat bacterial and amoebic gastroenteritis.
User :   ok
Doctor :   This medication can worsen previous gastritis in some individuals.
Doctor :   So the pain and uneasiness that you currently have are probably gastritis induced by medication, lack of regular food and sleep along with stress.
Doctor :   You can try the following measures
Doctor :   1. You need to continue the Ciplox TZ as advised by your doctor.
Doctor :   2. Along with it, include
Doctor :   a) Syp Mucaine gel a teaspoon thrice daily before food for 3-5 days.
User :   Sorry to interrupt. I did not get medical advice to start CIPLOX TZ but did it on my own.
User :   2 tablets daily. Shall I stop it now?
Doctor :   Most often gastroenteritis are caused by viral infection which are usually self limiting.
Doctor :   They do not need medication.
Doctor :   But now since you have already started an antibiotic, it isn't good to stop the course in between.
Doctor :   Continue the course.
User :   and how many doses should I continue for the course?
Doctor :   A full course is usually suggested for 3 days minimum to 7 days.
Doctor :   Average is 5 days.
User :   ok
Doctor :   The other measures apart from Syp Mucaine gel are
Doctor :   b) Sporolac tablets thrice daily for 2 days.
User :   ok
Doctor :   c) Be regular with your diet. Eat a diet containing less spices in them.
User :   ok
Doctor :   d) Restrict the use of coffee/tea and other beverages
Doctor :   e) good sleep is essential.
User :   ok
Doctor :   You should be better with this, but if your symptoms are not controlled
Doctor :   you can add
Doctor :   f) proton pump inhibitor such as Omeprazole 20mg pills one tablet a day and get to your doctor.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   Yes, absolutely
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   No, Just that sleep will be disturbed Since I have to catch an early flight tomorrow, have to wake up at 2 am. Also is there a substitute to the Syrup? It won't be convenient as I am travelling for around 24 hours.
Doctor :   You could try chewable antacids such as gelusil chewable tablets.
Doctor :   Following a regular diet with no fasting usually will avoid the pain occurrence?
User :   ok, how about pantodac. It worked for me when a doctor suggested me that sometime back.
Doctor :   Pantodac is a proton pump inhibitor. You may use them.
Doctor :   But you should be doing well with just the antacids with regular diet.
User :   ok, thanks alot
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   BTW, what is the timing and dosage of Pantodac, in case it is required?
Doctor :   As I mentioned, the use of Pantodac is not absolutely necessary now.
Doctor :   They are often used in the treatment of chronic indigestion/heart burn.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Since you are recently suffering an acute problem probably due to the medicine, they should be better soon.
Doctor :   However if I have to answer your query, pantodac usually is available in 40mg capsules and are advised a pill a day.
Doctor :   The duration of treatment will be decided by the doctor depending on the severity of the symptom.
User :   before or after food? Morning or evening?
Doctor :   Hope that is clear to you.
Doctor :   It is before food.
Doctor :   I would recommend you to use the pill if required after consulting a doctor.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   ok
User :   NO other queries. Thanks
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
User :   Thank you Doctor.
User :   Bye
