User :   doctor prescribed loestrin 30 - i started these on the first day of period and took 8 days worth but the bleeding was much heavier than normal so i stopped taking them. That period started 32 days ago - i normally have a period every 28 days. I am going on holiday in 6 days time. If i start to take the pilll again will i be able to prevent the period?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi
User :   are you able to advise me?
Doctor :   Loestrin are oral contraceptive pills.
Doctor :   They can regulate the periods by means of hormonal actions.
Doctor :   The bleeding happens on withdrawl of these pills.
Doctor :   Most often they will help in preventing the periods from occuring now.
Doctor :   But the effectiveness of each pill can be known only after its use.
Doctor :   So if you are planning to start the pill now to delay the period, you can try it.
User :   so if i start to take the pill today - this will hopefully prevent a pending period? I am not taking these for contraception purposes.
Doctor :   Yes, they should be able to control those periods.
User :   Thank you for your explanation and help. I really appreciate it.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me. Bye for now.
