User :   Doctor ordered a level 2 Ultra sound or ECHO....She says heartbeat is strong but one side of flow is weak or slow....What is this a sign of?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   Hello
Doctor :   Is that a comment after a obstetric scan ?
User :   It was after an ultrasound. Do you know if this is precautionary item? Is it standard operationing procedure? What is this a sign of?
User :   How is it possible to have a strong heart beat and still have a weak flow?
Doctor :   May i know the indication of the scan you got done ?
User :   The only scan that has been done is a regular ultrasound. The level two ultra sound has not been complete. The doctor said the flow was with the left side.
Doctor :   Ok, well there are possibilities for the heart beat to be strong and the flow be weak , and that is encountered in cases of valve regurgitation
Doctor :   the blood is pushed with strength but due to the seepage through the incompetent valves the flow loosen up
User :   What is valve regurgitation and how can it be treated
Doctor :   ans yes its a precautionary item
Doctor :   the treatment depends on the severity , valves involved and the complications if any
User :   Is this something that could go away?
Doctor :   yes, well it depends on the severity again
User :   Is there anything my wife can do to help? Is it okay for her to still exercise? Her blood pressure is running 135/78. Would that cause more of an issue?
Doctor :   no , exercising will not harm
Doctor :   and the BP is ok
User :   How is the valve regurgitation typically treated
Doctor :   With medications in milder forms to prevent worsening and help healing
Doctor :   and sever cases treated with valve replacement
User :   Would we wait for the baby to be born for medication? Or would my wife take the medication
Doctor :   yes, medications can be given to the mother
Doctor :   well its a rare chance
Doctor :   most of ties it is left alone for it to correct itself as it is a growing over time
User :   The medication or valve regurgitation is rare?
Doctor :   the severity asking for medication is rare
