User :   at age 13 i was hit by an stone of ~1" size in my left eye b'coz of which i have developed a very irregular shaped cataract which now i think shoud me removed. so i wanted to know what is the latest technology in lens replacement?
User :   would i be able to see the near and far objects with equal ease?

Doctor :   Phacoemulsification, Extracapsular cataract extraction are2 procedures that are performed
Doctor :   and will need to be seen which one would suit the patient better and the vision will no t have any impairment as they can be corrected by the lens implantation
User :   kindly eloborate in lay-mans terms
Doctor :   phacoemulsification the cataract is removed but the back layer of the lens (lens capsule) are left in place.
Doctor :   ultrasound waves, are used to break up (emulsify) the cataract and
Doctor :   they are then removed out through suction
Doctor :   in Cataract extraction ..
Doctor :   Through incision surgeon opens the lens capsule, removes the center (nucleus) of the lens in one piece and vacuums out the softer outer lens, leaving the capsule in place.
Doctor :   once the lens is removed the are replaced with False Lens called Intra Ocular Lens

Doctor :   phacoemulsification is What you refer to here as Faco in common terms and i have described it in detail earlier
User :   what is the diffence betweem bifocal nad multifocal lens?
Doctor :   bifocal are once used for reading and distant vision and they are clearly two different lenses that are braught in togather
Doctor :   and multifocal lens are once that are in all planes
Doctor :   single lens that give the same result
