User:I have a knee problem since last 6 month
User:my age is 38, and during playing cricket some minor injury in knee cap before 2 years
User:my weight is around 99 kg
Doctor:Can you explain what problem you have now?
User:if i walk for more then 20 min or run, my knee is full of liquid and minor swelling is there.
Doctor:Do you have pain too?
User:not major
Doctor:And do these symptoms improve with time or do you need treatment for it?
User:i consult one orthopedic in ahmedabad, he advice me for surgery..but i think i don't have much problem..
User:I need some firm second opinion..

User:yes, x-ray and MRI is also done...i want to reduce my weight by 15 height is 6.2'.. can u guide me how can i reduce my weight ??

Doctor:You have 2 concerns. One is your knee problem and the other weight.
Doctor:About the knee problem, it is likely that injury caused some knee injury.
Doctor:Knee injury in some cases become chronic when it is not attended immediately.

Doctor:If you are not planning for surgery, you will need regular physiotherapy, medical drugs made up of calcium supplements, antiinflammatory drugs and chondroitin supplements (during times of acute worsening).

User:I don't have any medical illness in my life, no smoking, no drinking and pure vegitarian

User:I love to walk, but because of this problem i can't walk much

Doctor:Based on the details provided, you are overweight with BMI falling at 28. You should target your weight between 65-75 kg.
User:ohh..i am toooo much overweight
Doctor:There are various means to reduce weight. You should plan for gradual reduction in weight say 1-2 kgs a week; as to lose 4-5 kg a month.
Doctor:This gradual way of reduction will prevent you from regaining weight again.
Doctor:I understand you are trying your best by exercising.
Doctor:I would like to share some diet tips to complement the exercises.
Doctor:The 2 important aspects is consuming high fibre, low calorie complex carbohydrate bulk forming diet with low fats.
Doctor:and consuming plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.
Doctor:Accordingly, your diet should be as follows:
Doctor:1. Start your day as you wake up.
Doctor:Drink a glass of warm water or skimmed milk with honey or lemon.
Doctor:2. Follow it up with your exercise. 15-20 minutes of cycling could do. If you do not have much of pain you can increase it to 30-45 minutes; but don't exert if you have knee problems.
Doctor:Go slow with exercise.
Doctor:And do warm up before exercise; and end with a rejuvenating/cool shower.
Doctor:3. Breakfast between 8-9:30.
Doctor:Breakfast should be healthy. If you are a rice lover, you can satisfy taking them at this time.
Doctor:idlies; dosa; kellogs; oats or any other healthy breakfast could do.
Doctor:If you take rice cereal items like idly or dosa restrict it to not more than 2.
User:ok, i like rice, cereals.. everyday i take fat free milk with breakfast..
Doctor:Avoid coconut or ground nut chutney.
Doctor:Avoid anything very sweet.
Doctor:instead you can try sambar or tomato chutney.
Doctor:Or a fruit.
Doctor:Skimmed milk or butter milk can do.
Doctor:Use honey/sugar free instead of sugar.
User:i am a insurance consultant and because of my profession..i drink tea 4-5 cup daily
User:customer offered me and i can't say no in gujarat
Doctor:Restrict tea consumption. If you can't black tea or with skimmed milk can do. Alternatively you may try green tea.
Doctor:If you need a bit taste, you could add honey to it or lemon to it.
Doctor:You may carry a bottle of honey with you.
Doctor:You can disclose that you are on diet to your customer and they should be ok with it.
User:sugar less tea is ok
Doctor:If you haven't consumed tea between breakfast/lunch, you can supplement a fruit like XXXXXXX
Doctor:Avoid banana/avocado/sapota/seethaphal/too sweet fruits.
Doctor:4. Lunch between 1-2:30 consisting of 2 roti or pulka or 1 kulcha with 2 vegetable curry/mix. 1 katori of rice or another roti can do.
Doctor:You could add sambar and a katori of curd to it.
Doctor:Avoid papad.
Doctor:Restrict deserts such as icecream or sweets.
Doctor:Salads with low calorie dressings can do.
Doctor:5. Evening snacks with green tea, high fibre biscuits; fruits can do.
Doctor:6. Dinner should be plain and simple. Roti/kulcha with vegetables can do.
User:at what time ?
Doctor:Curd/butter milk or salads can be supplemented.
User:evening snacks at what time ??
Doctor:Dinner should be preferably between 8-9pm. however the important criteria should be that your dinner has to be atleast 2 hours before you sleep.
Doctor:Evening snack between 4-6pm.
Doctor:Any vegetables except root vegetables can be taken.
Doctor:Radish/turning which are root vegetables can be taken.
Doctor:Along with this diet, drink sufficient water. Atleast 6-8 glasses of water is a must.
Doctor:If you take egg, then 2 egg white and no egg yolks.
Doctor:Restrict junk foods, fizzy drinks.
User:boiled egg is ok??
Doctor:If you like swimming in the evening/morning, you can do that instead of cycling in the morning.
Doctor:Boiled egg is ok.
Doctor:Restrict oil. And among oils it would be better if the oil is mixture of 2 vegetable oil.
Doctor:Sunflower/saf flower oil/olive oil can do.
Doctor:You get such mix oils in the market now. you may use them.
Doctor:Follow this diet and exercise and you should be able to lose weight.
