User :   Hello..
Doctor :   Hi please proceed with your query
User :   I have kidney stones for the past 6-7 year... can you suggest some dietary precautions....
User :   major reason for the same is calcium oxalate..
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   what symptoms do you have presently ?
User :   In the last check-up I was diagnosed with 5 stones in both the kidneys... 2 in right and 3 in left...
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   may i know if they were of significant size at diagnosis ?
User :   approximate size of the stones was 1 cm each, no pain as I am on medication (K-Cit, 10 ml, twice daily)
User :   last year i had surgery when the stone size was 2.5 cm each (one stones in each kidney)
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   i suggest you drink lot of water daily
User :   my water intake is about 3 ltrs per day
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   i also suggest you to have a calcium controlled diet
Doctor :   has the doctor stressed on this ?
User :   he asked me to stop taking any green leafy vegetables... that i have stopped, but what about regular calcium intake?
Doctor :   i also suggest you have these food stuff in moderation
Doctor :   spinach, strawberries, chocolates , nuts , tea and coffee
Doctor :   if the doctor has not asked to reduce calcium intake , i would also not suggest it
Doctor :   continue the same calcium intake , no harm

Doctor :   the diet i mentioned above are known to be rich in oxalate , hence have them in moderation
Doctor :   may i know if you are a non vegetarian ?
User :   I am a vegetarian.

Doctor :   i would suggest you what all you can have
Doctor :   skimmed milk , toast , other vegetables than spinach and roots
User :   roots as in onion and potato as well..
Doctor :   all fruits
Doctor :   onion you can have
Doctor :   reduce beet root and the likes
User :   ok
Doctor :   also food rich in vit c must be had in moderation
Doctor :   like citrus fruits lime , gooseberry ( amla ) orange , etc
Doctor :   you could have apple , mango and the likes
User :   so i will cut down on citrus fruits as well...
Doctor :   when i mention have them in moderation , i would stress that you need not completely cut them down
User :   ok...
