Doctor :   hi
Doctor :
how can i help you
User :   hello i have ckd my serum creatitine base line has been around 1.5 to 1.6 here lately I have had issues with it jumping up to 1.8, 1.9, 2.3 I test a week later hydrate more and it comes down is this just hydration issues
Doctor :
your age
User :   if the kidneys are worse would hyration still bring down the numbers or would they stay higher, and does hydration give a false low reading 65
User :   65
Doctor :   may i know your kidney disease in specific if you know
User :   diabetic related
Doctor :
Doctor :
normally hydration means the fluid saturation
Doctor :
do you have welling of the limbs
User :   yes i have edema
User :   in the les i take diuretics
Doctor :
Doctor :
creatinine levels are indicator of the kidney function
Doctor :
when they are normal the function of the kidney goes smoothly
Doctor :
but when the level raises more than normal it is of concern
Doctor :
it indicates that excess wafer , salt and unwanted toxic substances are not removed upto the mark
Doctor :
which leads to increase in edema
User :   ok, my question is when it fluctuates up and down is this do to dehydration issues because of the diuretics i am taking
Doctor :   normally when you are on diuretics it does fluctuates
Doctor :
and when the dehydration is more as such diuretics are withdrawn
Doctor :
but if the edema is present it doesnt allow dehydration
Doctor :
to take over
User :   ok i think i understand
Doctor :
as the fluid is shifted from the edematous area to the blood and from blood to all over the body
User :   last week my cr was 1.9 my bun was 67 would that indicate dehydration
User :   the cr to bun ration was over 30 to 1
Doctor :
No because dehydration as such means loss of free water from the body
User :   ok that had me confused i read on lne that when the ratio was over 20 to 1 it was usually and indicator of dehyration
Doctor :
in diabetes leading to kidney disease creatinine and BUN are raised
Doctor :
and normal value creatinine and BUN goes with 1:20 normally
Doctor :
when one increase normally other increases
User :   ok
Doctor :
any discrepencies will indicate hydration or dehydration
Doctor :
User :   ok thanks that was my main question i appreciate your help
Doctor :
