User :   I am experiencing itching on my pubic hair....The docotor said herpes but I believe she is wrong.
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :
User :   Where are you located?
Doctor :   No , i too consider it could be not due to herpes
Doctor :
User :   Are all of the doctors online in India?
User :   Nice to meet you
Doctor :   Not so
User :   I spoke with a Doctor online in India over this past weekend.
User :   Ok so let me tell you whats going on.
User :   Ok so let me explain
Doctor :   oh, fine
User :   Hello
User :   Ok if I may explain whats going on?
Doctor :   yes, please
User :   I went to the doctor and she suspected herpes she took a swab and the results came back positive!
User :   They did an IGG TEST
Doctor :   ok,
User :   I shaved about 4 weeks ago and my hair was growing back and itching I sctrached it and the very next morning I had pustles and a fever.
User :   Not a bad fever but a headache
User :   and my lymph nodes where swollen
User :   what do u think?
User :   are you there
Doctor :   all yours complaints are suggestin the possibilities of louse infestation
Doctor :   you may have to retest for herpes
User :   Doctor my pubic hairs are itching
Doctor :   herpes will always involve the mucosal areas
User :   whats that Doc?
Doctor :   not the skin
Doctor :   louse , Crab louse
User :   omg crabs?
User :   I dont see them
Doctor :   i am sorry , i could call them lice
Doctor :   they are very tiny
User :   What are mucosal areas?
Doctor :   and very rarely spotted by naked eyes
Doctor :   mucosal areas are skinless ares , bare areas like glans of the penis, oral cavity, vaginal opening etc ( fleshy areas )
User :   ok
Doctor :   the symptoms you aid are typical for a louse infestation
User :   I dont have any bumps there just on my pubic hairs and after i sctrached it took two weeks for the test to come back
Doctor :   and the pustules are secondary bacterial infection , its very common presentation
User :   it said HSV11...IGG...2.96
User :   I was like this cant be
User :   but IGG/ELISA....0.69......SERUM
Doctor :   yes, the test says weakly positive, get it repeated
Doctor :   and get examined by a sexual disease specialist or a dermatologist to see any other focus of infection
User :   Even if they took my blood she told me it was in my blood
User :   The virus
Doctor :   yes, it could be
Doctor :   hence get a detailed physical examination by a dermatologist to look for the lesions
User :   I dont have lesions
User :   or do you mean get a doc to actually open up my vaginal area and examine
Doctor :   a specialist examnation is needed to rule out
Doctor :   as the herpes lesions are most often painless
User :   ok so if a blood test is positive what would a normal positive be for herpes
Doctor :   I am sorry , can you redefine your question ?
User :   ok like with hsv 2 it needs to be over a 3.5 to be strong positive right
User :   well what about blood
Doctor :   may i know what blood test were performed for herpes 1
User :   yes doc all it says (the resuts) is as reads....HSV1 IGG/EIA....0.69.....(
User :   thats it and then the Interpretations
Doctor :   ok, the blood test which detects the antibodies , ELISA
User :   and then below it reads HSV11 IGG......2.96 (
Doctor :   the cut off for the positivity is 0.9
Doctor :   if the 2.96 is the result then you are positive for herpes
Doctor :   but the itching in the pubis is not a sign of herpes,
Doctor :   hence get the test repeated and examined by a dermatologist to spot out lesions and confirm the diagnosis
User :   but i thought the cutt off was 1.09 for blood
User :   these results are confusing
Doctor :   0.9 to 1.09 is considered equivocal
Doctor :   means needs to rule out by examination
User :   so where does 0.69 fall into that category?
User :   isnt that number under the numbers mentioned above?
Doctor :   yes, it is
User :   so how is it possible doc?
Doctor :   but 2.96 is one which asks for examination
User :   rephrase this
User :   please
User :   what do you mean which asks for examination
Doctor :   since the test has one below range and a above range reading its not a confirmed result , hence i suggset you to repeat the test and examined by dermatologist
User :   what test should I get
User :   to confirm that is?
Doctor :   The Blood levels of IGG and IGM both
User :   ok can you read this I am going to type my results as on this paper
Doctor :   yes, please
User :   Herpes C: final report
User :   HSV1 IGG/EIA....0.69....... INDEX....SERUM
User :   Interpreatations
User :   are same as for HSV11
User :   AND THEN THE 2.96
User :   and thats all DOC
User :   so what do u think
User :   hello
Doctor :   its weakly positive
User :   I mean like you said one is high and one is low
User :   so I am going to get a western blot
Doctor :   needs examination and look out for lesions to confirm and place you on treatment
User :   i hear thats the BEST test
Doctor :   yes,
Doctor :   it is
User :   ok
User :   thanks doxc
User :   doc
