User:i got hurt via a small copper wire. The wire was clean. Do i need to take a tetanus injection?
User:this happened yesterday at around 9pm
Doctor:Was there bleeding?
User:there was very mild bleeding
Doctor:When was the last tetanus shot?
User:it stopped in a few mins
User:i don't remember this
User:it was almost like a minor scratch
Doctor:Then it is better to get the tetanus shot
Doctor:Though the chances of tetanus are minimal but you are not protected from tetanus
User:ok, in how many hours from the injury should the shot be taken
Doctor:It should be taken rightaway
User:oh ok
User:do you know how long does the shot last
Doctor:Its effect lasts for 10 years
User:or does it depend on the type of shot ?
Doctor:It lasts for 10 years though in XXXXXXX doctors usually give a repeat at 5 years for many other reasons
User:oh, if that's the case, then i have taken a shot, around last year or so
Doctor:If you are 100% sure then it is ok
Doctor:You do not need tetanus shot
Doctor:You may just take precautions against local infection
User:i was told that it lasts for 3 months only (by the nurse administring the shot), so i thought i needed another one
Doctor:No that is incorrect
User:ok, then i think i should be fine :-)
Doctor:You may recheck if you took tetanus shot or some other shot
User:i am sure it was a tetanus
Doctor:ok then its fine
User:infact i had taken several, because everytime the nurse told me that it lasts for 3 months :-)
User:so for almost every injury , i went on taking shots
User:ok, thanks for your help, it was great getting this information :-)
Doctor:I am glad I could help
User:bye and have a nice day
Doctor:Take care
