User :   Please find below the symptoms I am facing: Symptoms -Severe Headache (Back of my head above the neck) How often and when: Sometimes when there is a Climate change, anxiety, skip breakfast, air-condition, garbage or rubber burning smoke Temporary relief: Disprin, Crocin, Saridon, Dolo-650 Other ailments - Steaming and inhaling eucalyptus oil or Karvol Plus

User :   I am worried if this might lead to any ,ajor disease at a later stage
User :   Pain observed in Head, Eye and the temple

Doctor :   Since when are you having this pain?
User :   28 complete
User :   Since 1998, but didn't have this pain during the period when I did Yoga

User :   On a average, I get the headache the first day when I land in a new place. ( Hill stations)

User :   Now its becoming more often, as I have been using the public transport to commute to office. The weather change from hot to air-conditioned office is contrasting.
User :   What would be your recommendation?

User :   Not recently
Doctor :   Do you have any associated symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fever, nasal congestion, blurring of vision associated with this headaches?
User :   Sometimes feel like vomiting. But it happens when there is acidity.
User :   In that case I drink lots of warm water and puke

User :   After which I do the steaming which gives me some relief

User :   I have done an eye-checkup, and my eyesight is perfect. I don't stare at the computer for long. I take regular breaks at workplace too. I am not involved in heavy workout, but I still do some physical activities like cleaning the house, washing my car, walking instead of motorbiking.
Doctor :   Does sound and bright light increase the severity of the headache?
User :   Actually I avoid bright light and sound during these situations. I try to sleep after steaming or taking a tablet.
Doctor :   Can you describe the type of pain you have - do you feel them as throbbing pain or dull ache?
User :   My main concern is that I dont want to have a stroke or cerebral seizure or a brain tumour in my medical report 10 years later. :-)
Doctor :   I shall explain them to you. I need a few more information before i can explain to you about them.
User :   The pain is severe and its not in the forehead. The pain starts from the nose and eyebrow junction
User :   and proceeds to the back of the head

User :   Severe dull aching pain

User :   My mother

User :   My parents have done their complete medical checkup, and no problem so far.

User :   My mother had headaches but not similar to mine. She gets it in her forehead.
Doctor :   Let me explain.
Doctor :   You are probably suffering from chronic headaches.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Chronic headaches occur due to multiple factors.
Doctor :   The factors/conditions that are commonly known to cause such chronic headaches are
Doctor :   1. Sinusitis
Doctor :   2. Migraines
Doctor :   3. Tension headaches
User :   I think it could be Sinusitis, as my nose gets blocked most the time.
User :   Tension headache is also possible. (Because I am married)
Doctor :   Apart from these conditions other factors are refractive errors, tumours, aneurysms, intracranial bleeding and so on.
Doctor :   According to your description, the headaches are contributed by sinusitis and stress/tension and anxiety.
Doctor :   Sinusitis could either be frontal or sphenoidal sinusitis.
Doctor :   The possibility that these symptoms may be an intracranial tumours or aneurysm are less than 1%.
Doctor :   The condition can be diagnosed by brain scans alone.

Doctor :   Treatment of the condition depends on the cause.

Doctor :   The following are commonly used treatment techniques(which I shall suggest to you)
Doctor :   1. Whenever in pain, there is no other alternative treatment than to use pain killers.
Doctor :   You can use simple pain killers such as Dolo 650mg or ibuprofen 200/400mg tablets.
User :   But this is only a temporary cure.
Doctor :   Use them as soon as you feel headache.
User :   These are analgesic and may cause damage to liver.
Doctor :   Using them late may reduce the effectivity of pain control.
Doctor :   You are right,
Doctor :   Hence lies the importance of the next few steps.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Medical treatment of chronic headaches are usually preventive and not curative.
Doctor :   The next measures are hence for prevention of the headaches.
Doctor :   2. Regular diet and sleeping habits are the most important preventive measures.
Doctor :   So avoid irregular sleeping, avoid fasting/irregular eating habits.
Doctor :   3. Sinusitis are commonly caused by allergic factors.
Doctor :   Watch out for allergy causing products and avoid them.
Doctor :   Few common allergy causing factors are dust and pollens.
Doctor :   Keep the curtains of door and windows at home closed especially during early morning and dusk.

Doctor :   Washing the bedsheets and pillow covers regularly and changing them frequently can make difference.
User :   I should get back to Yoga and gymming. Mostly all the physical activities that i stopped a few years ago.
Doctor :   Avoid any diet which are cold and refrigerated.
Doctor :   Yoga, physical exercise, meditation have effects on stress, tension and anxiety.
Doctor :   They also have some role in preventing allergies.
User :   I don't drink cold aerated drinks, except fruit juices.
Doctor :   Hence I strongly recommend that you get back to these destressing techniques.

Doctor :   Fruits and vegetables/multivitamin pills have effects in improving body health and preventing allergies, use them regularly in your diet.
Doctor :   4. There are few factors that can increased/aggravate chronic headaches.
Doctor :   Apart from fasting and lack of sleep, strong odour, body perfumes, and others are some factors known.
Doctor :   Hence avoid them as much as possible.

Doctor :   5. Coffee/tea and other caffeine products are known to improve these headaches initiailly
Doctor :   however over a period of time
Doctor :   they can worsen your headaches.
User :   multi-vitamin pills? can you suggest a few?
Doctor :   Hence I do not recommend you to try using coffee/tea as a measure to reduce headaches.
User :   I have one coffee or tea in a day. But I dont drink during headaches.
Doctor :   You can try zincovit tablets for multivitamin.
User :   Does this have any side-effect?
Doctor :   One pill a day for a month.
User :   When and how often do I take Zincovit?
Doctor :   Once a day is fine, however drinking more than 2-3 cups a day can produce significant effects on the headache.
Doctor :   6. These modifications help in preventing the headaches which I recommend.

Doctor :   You may need evaluation for sinusitis such as xrays/scans.
