User :   My fiancĂ© has got irregular periods after taking i-pilll? It's been two months now. Please advice.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hello doc how are you doing?
Doctor :   Hello, I am fine. Please give her Age
User :   24
User :   are you there?
Doctor :   May I know when she took the pill?
Doctor :   What do you mean by
Doctor :   irregular?
User :   6th june. It comes for a day and stops. it was more like clots.
User :   a local doc consulted taking a liquid name - clemenstol
Doctor :   Was the doc that you consulted a gynecologist?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   It has been 2 months, so she must have menstruated twice
Doctor :   by now, has she?
User :   she has got it only once - 18 june - but the flow was not good
Doctor :   Are you sure that she did have some flow on June 18?
User :   yes absolutely, she is on the phone with me now and she confirmed it
User :   another thing that you may want to know is - when we had sex we were not sure if the sperm entered her or not. To be on the safer side we had i-pill.
Doctor :   Did you get a pregnancy test done?
User :   no
Doctor :   What she is having is delayed menstruation or amenorrhoea, rather than calling it irregular menstruation
Doctor :   the first thing to be done is to rule out pregnancy
User :   If she was pregnant she would not have got her period on 18th June. From the last 10 days she is bleeding everyday... there are drops of blood when she is urinating
Doctor :   Even though she is sure that she has had bleeding inbetween, it could be something called Implantation spotting
User :   what does Implantation spotting mean exactly?
Doctor :   Yes, then indeed she is having irregular menstruation, thats an important piece of information
Doctor :   So she gets drops of blood everyday since 10 days?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Did she have any menstrual problems prior to this?
User :   never ever, ony after taking the ipill all this has started.
Doctor :   Ok, then she now needs to take OCPs
Doctor :   to regularise her cycles
User :   what are OCPs?
Doctor :   has she been prescribed them?
User :   no, but what are OCPs?
Doctor :   Oral contraceptive pills
User :   ok, any specific reason for that?
Doctor :   The i pill is a hormone, it has caused this irregularity
Doctor :   OCPs too are hormones, they can be used to regularise ones menstrual cycle
Doctor :   Get back to your gynecologist for the same
User :   why is she bleeding when she is passing urine?
Doctor :   Ask her if she sees the blood at the begining of the urination or
Doctor :   at the end of it
User :   begining
Doctor :   or is the blood mixed up along with urine?
Doctor :   Ok, that means that the first drops of urine is just washing away the blood residues on the urethral opening
User :   why is that happening? and will this be cured by OCP's as well?
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   This only means that she is having very less bleeding or what we call
Doctor :   spotting
User :   does she need to take a pregnancy test still?
Doctor :   Not necessary
User :   and is that the only cure for this? and if she takes the OCP's how long will take to cure?
Doctor :   But it is better decided by the gynecologist, who can examine her
User :   is that the only cure for this? and if she takes the OCP's how long will take to cure?
Doctor :   There might be nothing to cure in her
Doctor :   OCP will only regularise
Doctor :   the cycle
User :   which OCP, any specific brand?
User :   what is the dosage?
Doctor :   A clinical examination by a gynecologist is essential to rule out other possibilities
User :   dosage and brand please
Doctor :   A prescription of OCP should be given once one is sure that there is no other incidental cause
User :   anything else you might suggest?
Doctor :   Femilon(Infar) 21 tablets
Doctor :   But bas I told you an examination is must prior to taking these
