User :   Hi I had a grommet inserted in my right ear 4 days ago for extensive pain and infection. I am still experiencing a huge amopunt of pain and a high level of hearing loss, there is now only a small amount of yellow fluid discharge and I am now coughing up thick green mucous
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here
Doctor :   let me read what you have typed
Doctor :   the green mucus and the yellow discharge suggests infection
Doctor :   consider getting yourself re-examined
Doctor :   to rule out any problems with the grommet insertion
Doctor :   are you medications at present? is yes, please name them
User :   the ent specialist said there was nothing wrong with grommett insertion and I had a head and sinus ct scan on thursday which he said was clear I am on amoxycilliin ansd clavulanic acid 875/125mg twice daily and have been since last sunday
Doctor :   ok. since when you are having the green color mucus?
User :   yesterday
Doctor :   then it means that the amoxycilliin and clavulanic acid 875/125mg twice daily is not helping you
Doctor :   you will need higher antibiotic of the group cephalosporins to control infection
Doctor :   since it could be anerobic bacterial infection as suggested by green color sputum
User :   I am also concerned that the grommet has not cleared the ear area and that the hearing loss is continuing and was told it should be clear by now
Doctor :   please rate your pain intensity on scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest pain
User :   pain r5anges from 5-8 and that is with me having experienced high levels of pain with nprevious back injuryand nerve problems
Doctor :   the hearing can be affected due to the recent infection, but the pain should have been relieved by this time after grommet insertion.
Doctor :   since the pain is not yet controlled, it suggests some abnormality
Doctor :   please get a repeat examination done to see what the underlying problem could be
User :   should my heaaring be improvimg by now and do I need a 2nd ent to look at the problem
Doctor :   along with sputum culture sensitivity tests to identify the organism
Doctor :   and treat infection with higher appropriate antibiotics
Doctor :   yes you should consider getting a second ENT check done as pain and hearing both are not solved
User :   thank you I will follow this up with my docotor and will get aa 2nd opinion
