Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi doctor
Doctor :   I am Dr AAAAAAA
User :   the fall doesn't seem to significant to me
Doctor :   How can i help you ?
User :   on friday evening, my son fell to his right side when sitting on his cotbed
User :   and on the way of falling, the right side of his head hit a hard toy hanging on the cotside
Doctor :   Oh how is he now?
Doctor :   was there any injury ?
User :   he is absolutely fine
User :   I didn't notice any bruise or bumps
User :   and he even didn't cry
User :   almost immediately, he laughed at his brother
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   but, yesterday, I noticed a large dent on the right side of his head
User :   it's about a chunky chip sice
Doctor :   Oh .
User :   going from about 3-5cm above the ear downtoward the back of his head
User :   I am worried could it be caused by the fall?
User :   or is it a natural shape of his head
User :   I didn't pay attention to his head shape before
Doctor :   Ok
User :   I also felt the left side of his head too. There seems a little bit dented as well, but not as much as his right side
User :   could this kind of fall cause so large dent in his skull?
Doctor :   Usually though we are symmetrical both sides ar e not exactly the same
Doctor :   please let me know if the child has a ny of the following symptoms
Doctor :   1. dizziness
Doctor :   2. headache
User :   he behaved absolutely normal, didn't show any bad signs
Doctor :   3.any pupil constriction , diminishing eye sight /
Doctor :   4. any pressure changes in the intracranium would reflect so ?
User :   well, it's hard to tell from a baby. But I didn't notice any abnormal he seeing things
User :   the pressure changes? you mean feeling his soft spot?
User :   I felt it, it didn't bulge out
Doctor :   I feel any pressure on the cranium would show up in 48 hrs.
Doctor :   if he is fine till then, there is no need to worry.
Doctor :   he might be abbsolutely fine
User :   he behaved absolutely fine, but I am just worrying about the dent
User :   could it be caused by the fall?
Doctor :   It can be caused by the fall, without any affect on the brain absolutely.
Doctor :   Or it could be the normal shape from the very beginning.
User :   should I take him to a doctor to have a look?
Doctor :   the baby's mother would be of more help in noticing any change in the shape of the head if any
User :   I am the baby's mother
User :   but I didn't pay so much attention to his head shape before
User :   so not sure why there is this dent
Doctor :   oK.
User :   and because of the fall, it made me feel bad that it could be caused by it
Doctor :   Sorry for the caps
Doctor :   it got typed by mistake
User :   not yet, 36 hours
User :   but he was sitting on his cot, the cot mattress is soft
User :   I only worry he hit a hard toy on the cotside
User :   but the edge of the toy is rounded, and he didn't cry
Doctor :   So I feel if he is fine and his activity is fine, conscious , coherent and having his normal diet then there is no need to worry.
User :   is baby's skull so easy to be dented?
Doctor :   How old is the baby, depends very much on the age
User :   7 months 3 weeks
Doctor :   In that case i would say yes.
Doctor :   it can be easily injured at this age.
User :   ok, if the skull is dented by the fall, should it be painful?
Doctor :   Usually they weep, but f surprised they tend to forget, but if there is an injury deep down they dont sit quiet and cry/weeep a lot
User :   he didn't cry, and almost laughed immediately
Doctor :   So i still feel he might be absolutely fine.
User :   ok, thank you
Doctor :   But to be on a safer side you can get a pediatrician's opinion.
Doctor :   But i would say he will be fine
Doctor :   And not to worry.
User :   ok, thank you. I will take him to a doctor to have a look
User :   thanks again
Doctor :   Thank you for consulting me.
Doctor :   take care
Doctor :   bye for now.
User :   bye
