User :   I had a query on a pacemaker

Doctor :   A pacemaker is a small device that's placed in the chest or abdomen to help control abnormal heart rhythms. This device uses electrical pulses to prompt the heart to beat at a normal rate.
User :   My dad was operated in the year 2006
User :   he was put on a pacemaker

User :   his heart rate had dropped alarmingly and so the need for this operation
Doctor :   ok
User :   We had recently admitted him because the pacemaker was malfunctioning
Doctor :   ok
User :   In turned out that the magnesium levels in his body had dropped

User :   anbd that was affecting the functioning of the device
User :   he is 74 years of age and also suffers from parkinsonism
Doctor :   electrolyte dysfunction can cause cardiac arrhythmia

User :   Cardiac Arrhytmia woiuld mean?

User :   on admission however, that imbalance was corrected the next day

User :   but they detected a Urinary tract infection..

User :   this is the second time in the last one month that he had to be hospitalised..the first time was to check the functioning of the pacemaker...

User :   It was checked by the authorised company personnel and they confirmed that it is working fine..

Doctor :   it can come from the parkinsonism medicines

User :   but when we are at home, is there any way to understand that the pacemaker may not be functioning properly?

Doctor :   whether it is too slow
Doctor :   or irregular
Doctor :   and some times he might have pain with that
User :   is vommitting a sign of pacemaker trouble?
