User :   what determines whether a patient is operated on for a subbarchoid hemmorage? the doctor told my brother and I that are mother was not a candidate for surgery, she lived about a week in the hospital

User :   yes, she was almost 90, but walked everyday, drove her car, had all her teeth and got around better than me
Doctor :   Subarachnoid hemorrhage can spontaneously heal, provided the bleeding is not heavy, there is no associated pressure effects, symptoms are not severe.
Doctor :   Apart from these factors other factors that include age of the patient, presence of other comorbid illness are considered before taking for surgery.
Doctor :   At the age of 90, the risks of surgery is more when compared to the out come of the surgery.
Doctor :   This may have prompted the doctors to avoid surgery on her.

User :   she was unconscious most of the time in the hospital other than part of one day.....the reason for me asking was the chief of staff mentioned about the first thing on her diagnosis that she wasn't a candidate for surgery and then I start reading about the coiling technique and I get confused
