User :   I'm 23 years old. I know I should go -see- a doctor, but right now...I am too afraid. I hate dr's offices, I am afraid of dr's themselves, and I get really panicked when I think about what the answer might be. I think I may have breast cancer...particularly in the left breast. Ever since 2006 when i had my daughter my left breast has been slightly larger than the right...but in the last few months i swear its a whole cup size bigger. It feels achey in random spots and has for over a month. Around the left side if I press hard enough and lay a certain way I swear I feel lumps. I'm a total hypochondriac sometimes, but I have been so stressed and scared about this, that im too afraid to go to a dr because im afraid they will say i have cancer. Some advice, please?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read the query
User :   Hello..and okay no problem
Doctor :   May I ask you few questions?
User :   Yes

Doctor :   When you the first time you felt the lumps?
User :   When I first felt the lumps...was about a month and a half ago
User :   And I am 23 years old
Doctor :   I know your age, I wanted to know when you first felt the lump
Doctor :   Okay, do you feel the lump increasing in size
User :   No, not that I have noticed. I'm so paranoid Im feeling around it every single day
Doctor :   How many lumps do you feel now approx
User :   4 or 5
Doctor :   How many children do you have?
User :   Just one, I had her in may of 2006
Doctor :   Did you breast feed her?
User :   No
Doctor :   Any particular reason?
User :   I was on birth control, was in college, went away a lot and had to have people babysit often, I drank... not a lot but enough to where I was worried it would hurt her...
Doctor :   Do you have discharge from the breast any time?
User :   No not at all
Doctor :   Do you have redness and tenderness over the breast anytime?
User :   No redness, but every once in a while tenderness
Doctor :   Do you have some relatives in the family with Breast cancer?
User :   I dont think so, none that I know of
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   That is fine
Doctor :   It does again reiterate that you are at low risk
User :   Yeah a couple people have said that, and a couple people have said it may just be my body reacting becaues I am always stressed out. Which I am lol, a lot...
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   But you should control the same
Doctor :   since you are not having a lump or swelling in the breast
Doctor :   and no significant history as well
Doctor :   there is no need for you worry about it
Doctor :   Nevertheless concern and alert is not derecommended
Doctor :   you should continue
Doctor :   but should not worry
Doctor :   for things which are not evident
User :   Okay
User :   Is it possible stress could be something thats causing it?
Doctor :   Causing such apprehension, you mean?
User :   Well Im under a lot of stress with my job, Im a police officer and with the warm weather idiots come out so things are busier..thats a stresser... i have to juggle that with my daughter and her school and ballet classes..thats a taking care of a friend and my brother so they are living in my house and thats definitely a stresser, my mom is going through a divorce and recently tried to commit suicide...
Doctor :   Ok
User :   So could all this stress be messing with hormones or just doing whacky things to my body and causing what i keep thinking is breast cancer
Doctor :   I can understand your situation
Doctor :   Yes, your entire conscience shall be affected
Doctor :   but you should overcome that
Doctor :   you have the potential
Doctor :   thats why you are having so many tasks
Doctor :   but try not to get obsessed with any
Doctor :   help your mother
Doctor :   but you should not be shaked
Doctor :   take her to a psychiatrist
User :   That coupled with the fact I am a hypochondriac most of the time lol... something little happens, i look it up online, think it is something horrible and life threatening and I start to panic and obsess over it
Doctor :   and also for counselling
Doctor :   Now, for cancer
Doctor :   you should note down the following points
Doctor :   1.lump/swelling
Doctor :   2.increasing size of the lump/swelling
Doctor :   3.absence of pain
Doctor :   4.bloody discharge per nipple
Doctor :   these are the alarming signs
User :   Okay...that makes me feel a whole lot better
Doctor :   Sure
Doctor :   You should not get perturbed
Doctor :   Keep yourself calm
Doctor :   I would suggest you to try certain relaxation techniques
Doctor :   have you followed any till date?
User :   I work out 3-5 times a week, its usually a stress relief but anymore the last month or so it just stresses me out with everything else. I tried yoga and deep breathing and all of that but...that stressed me out too.
User :   I think I just feel overwhelmed with worrying about a lot of little things all at once
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Deep breathing is recommended
Doctor :   it shall slow down your thoughts
Doctor :   and calm you
Doctor :   you should sit comfortably for 20 minutes per session
Doctor :   with eyes closed
Doctor :   and practice concentrated deep breathing
Doctor :   2 sessions are recommended per day
User :   Okay, I'll try ready to try anything
User :   Im only 23 im too young to be this stressed lol
Doctor :   it is more in younger age
Doctor :   shall improve with aging as well
Doctor :   Mind gets a bit more settled with time
User :   I have something to look forward to then huh lol
Doctor :   but attempts to improvise are mandatory
Doctor :   And you should also not hesitate to consult a Psychiatrist
Doctor :   or atleast a clinical psychologist initially
Doctor :   you can have more definitive strategies to improve yourself
User :   Yeah I think I need to too...with all this stress I swear I have been building up new anxieties over the dumbest little things anymore
Doctor :   Ok, but nothing to worry again on that
Doctor :   try on the solution part now
Doctor :   as you have discovered your problem areas
User :   The sound and feel of a heartbeat sends me into a full on panic attack, which happens a lot because i have mitral valve prolapse, mild, but i still get palpitations and when it happens look out lol
User :   yeah im gonna try that out, the deep breathing
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Are you on any medications for your cardiac issue?
User :   I was on toprol
User :   But I stopped taking it on my own
User :   I have anxiety issues with taking medicine lol I know its stupid
User :   I always feel like eventually , or sooner or later, it will do worse than good
Doctor :   It brings down your anxiety
Doctor :   so you should follow your doctor's advice
Doctor :   You shall surely improve
Doctor :   but take it with a prescription
User :   I will probably visit my doctor and get my prescriptions renewed
User :   I was only on 10mg
User :   But..yeah. shew lol
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Fine
User :   Thanks again...i feel a lot better
Doctor :   Is there anything else you want to tell/ask?
