User :   I have an inflamed tonsil. I have recently begun using nicotine gum and have read that inflamed tonsils or tonsilitis can be a side affect. Should I go to the doctor?

User :   I just started using nicotine gum a week ago and then noticed that I had some ear pain when listening to loud music.

User :   today I looked in the mirror and saw that I had an inflamed tonsil

User :   Do you have any other symptoms? like fever headache , etc

User :   In Your case it could be a infection of your ear and throat.

User :   You have give some analgesic for pain.
User :   Do some salt water gargling.
User :   Steam inhalation.
User :   Just put table salt in water and gargle it?
User :   Put a pinch of salt in Luke warm water.
User :   And then gargle.

User :   so I should try that for a few days before going to the doctor?
User :   Yes you try it for 2 days.
User :   Do yo think it could be something more serious?
User :   Do you have any pain killers with you.

User :   I am not in bad pain, just uncomfortable with loud music at this point

User :   It is due to the inflammation of the ear drum.

User :   Take tylenol 1 tablet 2 times a day.
User :   Do valsalva maneuvers to clear any secretion in you ear.
User :   what are valsalva maneuvers?
User :   Close your nose and mouth and try to blow air out.
User :   You can feel air entering you ears.
User :   How often should I do that?
User :   Once a while.
User :   Anything else?
User :   Don't try to blow hard.
User :   ok
User :   Avoid loud music .
User :   How long should I do this before I go to the doctor?
Doctor :   try these for next 2-3 days, if still not better
