User :   after my umbilacal hernia surgery i have been getting a pins and needles sensation from my thigh right up to the side of my face on the right side of my body
Doctor :   Hi Dr Anvekar here
Doctor :   let me read ur query
User :   k
Doctor :   when was the surgery done ?
Doctor :   and may i know your age ?
User :   2 days ago
User :   48
Doctor :   ok
User :   started 11 hrs after surgery
Doctor :   did u have the symptoms soon after surgery
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   usually with any surgery is is common to HAVE some sensory difficulty
Doctor :   but lasting this long and that extensive could be due to nerve damage during surgery
Doctor :   have u been sleeping all day ?
Doctor :   resting on the right side ?
User :   no....have been awake all day
Doctor :   have u been lying down on the right side ?
User :   when in bed i was laying on back
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   do u have any weakness, and any other symptoms ?
User :   no...very little if any pain....hand still has good grip even when tingling
Doctor :   any issues with walking ?
User :   no
Doctor :   are u on any medications ?
User :   am taking tegretol cr and frisium.....had seizure in 1994
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   in that case, this could be due to some nerve damage related issue
User :   will it improve?
Doctor :   specially since the problem lies only on the right side and lasts from the groin to the face
Doctor :   the chances is yes, if the issues are due to nerve block alone
Doctor :   can u tell me if you feel pain sensation in that area ? (pinch yourself )
Doctor :   can you feel soft touch over there ?
User :   no pain....just tingling
Doctor :   so u dont feel any pain when u pinch urself ?
Doctor :   In that case, it is definitely related to nerve issues
User :   no pain other than me pinching
Doctor :   No i meant, does it pain when u pinch youself ?
User :   if i pich i can feel that
Doctor :   ok, then thats good
Doctor :   it will be short term and will soon go away
User :   thats good to hear
Doctor :   if possible contact your treating surgery, and ask him if he can examine you
User :   how long should that take
User :   ok
Doctor :   it is good to intimate him about that
Doctor :   it may take 2-3 days or upto a week,
User :   ok
Doctor :   in the mean time, apply some cold packs on the area
Doctor :   this will help to numb the area
User :   it seems sudden movement can bring it on
Doctor :   since you can feel the pain, the nerves seem to be normal
Doctor :   probably its due to nerve irritation, resulting due to inflammation at the hernia surgery site
Doctor :   and will soon subside
Doctor :   i hope this clears any doubts
Doctor :   do u have any questions related to this ?
User :   k.....if it doesnt clear up i will try and make apptment with dr
Doctor :   you might even consider to call your surgeon and intimating about this issue
Doctor :   he might be able to give some idea over the phone
Doctor :   i hope this helps
