User :   My 9 months baby girl is suffering from loose motions. She is given Measles vaccine a week ago. What all food i should give her and what all I should avoid?

Doctor :   Can you describe the consistency, colour of the stool?

User :   almost 5-6 times in a day

Doctor :   Based on your history, your daughter is suffering from gastroenteritis.
Doctor :   Since you report reduction in the fever and vomiting, her symptoms are gradually improving.

Doctor :   Since dehydration and its complications are the most life threatening implication of recurrent diarrhea,
Doctor :   the best form of diet in these circumstances is liquid diet.

Doctor :   So as far as the diet is concerned, any form of liquid diet is the best.
User :   any fruits?
Doctor :   Liquid diet in the from of gruel/porridge is the best.
Doctor :   You can try rice, lentils and other grain cereals.

Doctor :   Alternatively liquid vermiceli preparations, fruit juices can be given.
Doctor :   Though whole fruits are better nutritious, at this time, it is best that you give her liquids in the form of fruit juice.
Doctor :   Along with these you need to continue with the ORS preparations, as they help in replacing the salts along with water lost in the the diarrhea.
User :   Apple juice , Orange Juice, tender coconut ?
Doctor :   Feed her as much as possible(both ORS and liquid diet), but do not force them.

Doctor :   In some individuals diary products and milk products can be intolerance,
Doctor :   so watch out for milk and milk products.
Doctor :   If they are inducing loose stools, then preferrably avoid them.
