User:Hi Doctor
User:My 7 month old son has suffered from fever last week which started with cold.
Doctor:How can I help you today?
User:After going to a pediatrician and administred with chrocin drops, Otrinoz Nasal drops, his fever got reduced 2 days back itself.
User:but his cold seems to be continuing still.
User:From yesterday he started cough also
User:currently we are giving only Nasal drops for cold. We have stopped chrocin drops
User:Do we need to start any medicine for cough ? If so what ?
Doctor:It depends
Doctor:He is still very small
User:For cold we are using Maxstra oral drops (as suggested by doctor)
Doctor:We can try an anti-allergic medicine
User:also we are giving one dosage of zincovit for improving resistance (Again suggested by doctor).
Doctor:What is the composition of maxstra oral drops?
User:So currently we are giving him 3 things Maxstra, Otrinoz nasal drops, and zincovit
User:Let me check about maxstra
User:Each ml contains: phenylephrine hydro chloride IP 5mg, chlortheniramine maleate IP 2mg
Doctor:So it has anti-allergic component
Doctor:Clorpheniramine maleate is anti-allergic
User:Is this sufficient for cough also ?
Doctor:Yes it will take care of the secretions and the resultant cough
Doctor:But it can cause sedation
User:We are giving 0.5ml in morning and 0.5ml in evening
Doctor:Thus it is recommended that you give cold and cough medicines if symptoms are present and bad enough for iummunity to clear it up
Doctor:Once the secretions are under control you may discontinue it
User:Do you mean running nose by the term secretions ?
Doctor:Runny nose and phlegm, mucus secretions
User:But will cough will clear automatically once hte cold is in control ?
Doctor:It should clear up in a day or two
Doctor:Crocin should be given only if fever is present
User:yeah..we have stopped crocin
Doctor:Unnecessary medication is not advised in cold and cough conditions
User:Can we stop giving the medicine....and let it recover automatically ?
User:Will that work ?
Doctor:Yes you may
Doctor:We should trust his immunity. as long as he is active, we can stop giving him medicines. Right ?
Doctor:Any other concerns?
User:ok...will try that from tomorrow.
User:thanks doctor.
User:nothing else
Doctor:Hope I helped
Doctor:Bye for now
Doctor:Take care
