User:My Seven month old son is suffering from cold which resulted in running nose and slight temperature (since yesterday)
User:Can we give him "Otrinoz" drops ?
Doctor:I think we should first make his infection get better.
Doctor:Since he is less than one year, it is not advisable to give him this medicine.
Doctor:Can I know what results you are expecting from the drops?
Doctor:Are you there?
Doctor:Are you there?

User:Currently the temperature of baby is around 102.
User:We will give him one dose now.
Doctor:Yes, paracetamol is the safest
Doctor:Give it now
Doctor:Any other question?

Doctor:How can I help you?
User:Hi Doctor,
User:My 7 month old son is suffering from fever now.
Doctor:Please proceed with your query.
User:It started with mild cold yesterday and resulted with fever today..
User:When we tested, the thermometer read 102 degree celcius
User:I have already contacted doctor couple of hours before through this chat
User:she has advised one drop of citrizen for infection and paracetemol for fever
User:For Paracetemol we have got crocin drops.
User:My query is how much dosage of crocin drops should be given and how frequent ?
Doctor:May I know the child's weight?
User:around 8 kgs.
User:7.8 kg
Doctor:You can give 6-8 drops every 6 hours if fever is high.
User:high meaning > 100 right ?
Doctor:otherwise you can give 6-8 drops every 8 hours.
User:and regarding citrizen the pharmacy store guy says it is available only in syrup format and no drops.
User:We have bought the syrup for now.
User:SHould we go ahead and give the syrup ? if yes how much dosage
Doctor:I would suggest you to consult a pediatrician before giving Cetrizine to an infant.
Doctor:It should be given only under a medical supervision.
Doctor:I could say, you can continue giving it.
User:but how much dosage ?
Doctor:But it would be unethical for me to say so as I have not examined the child.
User:Is it only one drop ?
Doctor:I assume you have not understood my suggestion.
User:I thought you told to continue to giving it
Doctor:It is not safe to give an infant a prescription medicine without a doctor examining the child.
Doctor:I am sorry if was not clear. I said, it is unethical to do so.
User:We will consult the doctor, if the cold persists tomorrow too..!
Doctor:For the meantime, you can give Crocin drops to control the fever.
Doctor:You can also do tepid sponging to bring down the fever.
Doctor:You can also use Saline nasal drops to clear the nostrils if blocked.
Doctor:In my personal opinion, I don't find any benefit in giving antihistamines to infants.
User:We have "Otrinoz" nasal drops at home. Can we give it ?
Doctor:Otrinoz is oxymetazoline.
Doctor:May I know what is the percentage written on it?
User:The label says Saline Nasal Solution (Otrinoz Saline)
Doctor:It is Otrinoz saline drops
User:Contains: Sodium Chloride IP...0.74% wlv in an isotonic aqueous buffered vehicle containing aloe vera
Doctor:It can be given.
Doctor:'Otrinoz Saline' drops can be given. But not 'Otrinoz' drops
Doctor:It may take 3-5 days for the cold to come down.
Doctor:Do not worry about the cold.
Doctor:In case the fever persists for more than 2 days, then you will have to consult a pediatrician.
User:Yeah..I was worried about the high fever and frequent crying of the baby.
Doctor:I understand your concern.
User:Sure... i will consult in that case..
Doctor:the child will be facing difficulty due to the irritation it has due to the cold.
Doctor:It will get better.
Doctor:Just continue giving the medicines and watch for 2 days.
User:ok sure.
User:thanks for you suggestion..
Doctor:Thank you for consulting me.
Doctor:is there anything else I could assist you on?
User:Will get back to you if required.
Doctor:Sure. Please do let me know.
