Doctor:Good morning
User:Good Morning
Doctor:This is xxxx here
User:This is XXXXXXX
Doctor:Please proceed with your query
User:Dr XXXXXXX I have a query relating to my 1.5 month old daughter
Doctor:Please proceed
User:from the past 3 days, she has been crying a lot, has lost her apetite ( she is being exclusively breastfed)
Doctor:Is she the first baby to the mother?
User:we have tried colic aid drops, nasal spray solutions, but still she is unrest , has not been sleeping well during the day
User:yes, she is our first baby
Doctor:Is she running fever?
User:not today, but she had fever on monday.
Doctor:Babies cry for 2 reasons
Doctor:If they are hungry and if they need to pass urine or stools
Doctor:these 2 are normal conditions where they cry
Doctor:Else, there could be a problem
Doctor:In your daughter's case
User:ok. she has been passing stolls properly
Doctor:I feel she may not be adequately fed
User:she is refusing to take feeds
Doctor:How often is she passing stools?
User:we tried giving her Dexolac, but she isn't taking that as well
Doctor:Is there any difficulty for her to pass stools?
User:3-4 times a day from past 4 days
Doctor:That seems normal
Doctor:Is the mother feeding the baby every 2 hours?
User:she is trying, but baby isnt drinking
User:and she isn't sleeping well also ... she stays awake almost the entire day
Doctor:there may be a problem in the way she is breastfed
Doctor:She is hungry, that is why she may not be sleeping
Doctor:Is there anyone at home who can help and guide your wife well to nurse the baby?
User:my mother-in-law is here, but inspite of that, baby has been restless
Doctor:Don't try Dexolac now
Doctor:Try and breast feed the baby as much as the mother can
User:can we use feeding bottle?
Doctor:I do not see a seemingly difficult problem here
Doctor:It is not advisable
Doctor:Continue to breastfeed directly
Doctor:May be you can help your wife in feeding the baby
Doctor:Hold the baby straight to the mother's breast
Doctor:Support the neck of the baby
Doctor:You should try and do this
Doctor:The baby does not need any medication
Doctor:She is definitely not sick
Doctor:She is just trying to adjust to the mother
Doctor:It should not take you long time
Doctor:Make the baby suck more at the mother's breast
Doctor:Once she is full, she will sleep
Doctor:In case she develops fever again, if her crying does not stop and if she is still not feeding well by another day
Doctor:Please take her to the pediatrician
User:she was feeding well, but suddenly lost her apetite ... will now try your advise
Doctor:Hope you are following me
User:yes, i am
Doctor:Yes, please try it
Doctor:She will be fine soon
User:thank you Dr XXXXXXX :)
Doctor:Thank you too
Doctor:Wishing your baby a speedy recovery
User:thanks :) have a great day
Doctor:You too
Doctor:Take care
Doctor:and bye for now
