User :   I have been suffering from increased fatigue over the last six months. In December 2010 I started experiencing middle back pains/spasms that have increased over the past 8 weeks. I have also recently had blurred vision and extreme fatigue to the point where I have been off work for two weeks. I am also having pain down my right arm and into my right hand/fingers. I am also struggling with sleep and have had a sharp headache pain on the top right of my head. My GP has said it is just down to stress and has prescribed diazapam and an antidepressant. I would like a second opinion please?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hi
Doctor :   The symptoms do sound as if due to stress
Doctor :   but please explain me about the pain in the right upper limb
User :   well, it is a pain that comes and goes and usually runs down the outside of my right arm into my hand and the pain can be sharp in my pinkie and ring finger. I have also had some spasms in the sole of my right foot and the right side of my neck.
Doctor :   Ok, and do you have head ache always or triggered by any factor ?
User :   i have regularly had so called tension headaches on my forehead above my eyes but that i attribute to stress. the sharper pain on the right top is unexpected and lasts for a couple of minutes
User :   ?
Doctor :   ok, Do yo take any medication for the same , does it help ?
Doctor :   you *
User :   i am not too fond of taking medication, but i do take ibuprofen for the back spasms and it relieves the pain but not the spams. The diazapam helps relax my muscles but I only took it for a week. I have been on fluoxitane for a month now.
User :   even on the diazapam i have still had some pain in my arm
Doctor :   ok, Do you have pain abdomen or bowel disturbances ?
User :   none, and then there is the extreme fatigue. i have not worked for two weeks. i can bearly do half an hour of house work.
Doctor :   Ok , do you get get fever intermittently ?
User :   no
Doctor :   Any longterm burning urination ?
User :   no
Doctor :   The symptoms you have are typical ,stress induced illness , i am suer that Diazepam and antidepressants will be of great help here
Doctor :   I do not suspect any infective focus in you
User :   would it not be beneficial to have an MRI? or something to check the nerve/arm pain? i have been stressed before and never had such blurred vision and pain down my arm?
Doctor :   ENMG ( electro neuro myo gram) may help here
User :   what is that?
Doctor :   it will present the connection and coordination between the nerves and the muscles
Doctor :   its a simple test , just like an ECG
User :   ok, thanks, i will chat to my gp further.
