User :   Hello,I am having pain behind my belly button. If I press on my belly buttont the pain is in the center and to the left. I have had diarrhea for 2 weeks now and lost about 10 lbs. I went to the doctor Monday and they said I had IBS and put me on Librax. I also have panci/anxiety issues as well, so I don't want to overact. I've been searching the web (bad idea) and now I'm worried about appendicits or an ulcer. The belly button pain started briefly yesterday but has gotten much more noticeable today. It also feels like I have a big knot in the middle of my stomach and has felt like that for about 3-4 days. Based on the symptoms would you advise any immediate action? I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist on Wednesday, but want to try to push it up if need be.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   let me read
User :   HELLO
Doctor :   do you have fever ?
User :   i don't believe so
Doctor :   is the pain constant and through out the day ?
User :   It has been all day today. I don't want to exaggerate - i'm not doubled over in pain but it is a dull constant pain which is exacterbated if I lightly push where the pain is.
Doctor :   do you have nausea and or vomiting after the pain has started ?
User :   no vomiting. i've been slightly nauseaus the past week or so with the diarrhea
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   the pain behind the belly button does seem to be the part of the diarrhea episode and yes it may be due to the IBS also
User :   okay, so you wouldn't worry at this point? Is there anything else I should look out for that may indicate it is something more serious?
Doctor :   at this point of the time an ultrasound of the abdomen is necessary
Doctor :   you need to watch if at all your pain get worse, fever develop,
Doctor :   and the pain which is around the belly button move towards the right side of the abdomen
User :   Okay, thank you. I will try to get my appt moved up to be safe. I appreciate your time and help.
Doctor :   thanks for consulting health care magic
Doctor :   bye for now
